Why do some players lose their passion for PoE ?

How do you know any better? All of your characters are in standard with the dump economy.

I wonder what would happen if "hardcore" players had to have a little stat that showed up beside their characters saying how many times they had pressed alt-f4. I wonder if /deaths vs alt-f4 would be more similar than not.

Also, Mods, I thought there was this big movement to end this hardcore elitism.

Death is instant in most cases. The misconception that Alt F4 will bring you back from the dead after 3 days like Christ is just that, a misconception. Both of my Nemesis deaths were to instant spike damage. Both were to instant Devourer deaths. The second pack of them I died to ate through my board and 6k life in under 1 second.

If you're dying slowly to something then you don't need Alt F4, you need a faster reaction time and fingers that aren't broken(or an energy drink if you're etup). I say play sc, hc, whatever you have the most fun with, but don't pretend to be "the same" as hc because of the magic Alt F4 pony of invincibility, because it's not.

After reading of the notorious interview of Chris with Athene I searched for it on YouTube... what can I say, all the answers are there!

They want the game to be unrewarding.
They want those they consider casuals to stay away from the game.
They want the endgame high level maps to be elite's property.
They want solo experience to be a PITA.

Well, at least now I know I can leave without looking back.

This is one of the most fucking stupid things I've ever read. Ever.
So they want that no one plays PoE and no one buy their microtransactions because there are no players?

Well, then I will never give them money.

WTF. I mean seriously, how stupid is this?

Ok, next thing the Devs (or some of them) will say that they want players to leave. That its better when only a small amount of players who buy Orbs and Shit from third websites stay. And that is better when only these players jerk off to their godlike items which they essentially bought with insane amount of real money.

So much on the "play to win" topic.

[sarcasm_on] maybe it would be better when GGG wrote on this very site: "attention! you cannot progress in this game. there is absolutely no reward. there is nothing, just frustration. if you don't spent insane amount of money to rmt sites, then stay off, 'cause you will be frustrated."[/sarcasm_on]

torchlight 2 currently has twice the amoutn of players as poe on steam. lol...

of course that number does not include the poe players who don't use the steam client, but the overall number has dropped a decent amount since the game was officially released and you rarely see poe in the top 10 anymore.

so yeah, just sayin...

TL2 is currently free on Steam so everyone is trying it out. It had 5k concurrent players last Saturday (which is still decent).
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

GGG needs to listen to Bill Roper(producer of Diablo 2)

Yes, listen to this 49minute video and start adapting.

What desrocchi wrote is a very, very liberal interpretation of what Chris has said. Actually it's outright bullshit.

I thought so, it can't be that some of the lead devs don't want that people play their game, why would they develop it otherwise?

What did Chris actually say? Is there hope after all?

You can watch the interview here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y-QFqRHoPM

Long and short in a very general fashion, the game won't change dramatically. There will be adjustments. Which doesn't really say all that much, but you can tell Chris Wilson is level headed and not someone sitting in an ivory tower.
I think it's better to see for yourself. Some of the things Chris has said are very debatable and a bit open to interpretation. And it was a live interview, so it just might be that not everything he said was worded in a pitch-perfect way.

This is the interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y-QFqRHoPM
From what I can tell, the devs want us to roll many alts, try many builds, not play a single character through "endgame".
Why else would they make endgame progression so terrible?
Many lewt.
Much desync.
Such rewarding.
Wow.
According to forum mods "sandwich" is considered an offensive word. Who knew?
I'm gonna seek for some passion for this game, starting now.
