Why don’t we remove trading altogether?

people should check out the results from the 5 day solo self found thingy GGG did. Like seriously go look at the results if you think you can't do lvl 78 maps in a week solo self found.
The crux is that we like PoE and it doesnt need to be fundamentally overhauled because you dont. Pointing out D3 is fundamentally different, and more akin to the changes being suggested, is not demeaning, but rather good advice. Hey...is this thing on? I think the game is very well balanced from a self-found standpoint. I exclusively solo with multiple builds and rarely have an issue with end game content. I obviously don't crush, but the challange is not insurmountable.
The problem arises when there's a particular item I do want. If you're self-built there's practically no way in all the time you took to reach 70+ (Even on multiple toons) that you've made even a fraction of the the insanely high asking prices for most build-centric items. If you're truly lucky you may have found an item worth trading to get you at least part-way toward what you really want, but honestly it's not even worth trying. " Sorry, discussion of the cesspool standard economy means nothing. The important economies to discuss and worry about are the temp leagues. Too many variables exist in in the standard economy that differentiate from temp leagues and it's a dumping ground anyway. " Haha oh wow, that's a good one. Well done. @FadeXF
Previously I was pretty okay with the idea of a SFL, but after trying out the 1 week I think I'd probably give it a miss. Maybe I'd make a HC character just for the achievement (if there was one). Doesn't stop me from potentially supporting the idea though. @OP [Before Morning Coffee Rant] Your topic has become another Self Found League thread :( This has been covered so many times, in so many iterations, and has consistently failed to make any new or interesting arguments for or against it. I like some aspects of the first post - drop tables are a valid idea for gated bosses, for example - but what the core problem your post is really identifying is not trade, but rather something else that has been discussed a little bit over the last 12 months or so. Itemisation in the game needs a very significant reworking. Charan has made this point, as has Scrotie and others, in a much more informative manner than I can. But the reality is that we're at the point where GGG is implementing a Loot Filter so we can stop flooding the screen with copious amounts of bullshit every time we kill something. Read that again - GGG understands and recognises that a large part of the player base is sick of getting so many pointless drops cluttering up their screens, they have decided to implement a way for people to get those items removed from showing up. Doesn't it strike anyone else as a bit ridiculous? I mean, as a QoL feature, it is awesome that they are adding it in. But ... why? Why should being able to delete item notifications be a QoL feature? Why are we getting so many useless pieces of text flood the screen to the point where we need to be able to filter them out? It is a little absurd. Before we continue to argue the toss on whether SFL / Loot Tables / Recipes etc. are a worthwhile addition to the game, we should take some time to discuss the much wider issues of the current itemisation system, and how that is negatively impacting on how the game works, how it possibly limits what GGG can do and achieve, and whether there is a better system that could be used that is fairer and more useful. [/Before Morning Coffee Rant] == Officially Retired 27/02/2019 == Massive thanks to GGG for producing such a fun and engaging game, it has taken up faaaaaaar too much of my life over the last 5 years. Best of luck in the future! Last edited by CaptainWaffleIron#2395 on Jun 1, 2015, 4:29:53 PM

" And most importantly makes trading accessible to everyone. A lot of people refuse to use other party websites not just because of security issues but also because it breaks immersion and most times than not makes you frustrated when interacting with certain personalities. GGG could just give us the ability to set prices on items in certain stash tabs and do something like this: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1208985/page/1 What do you mean that the league is not rewarding or fun? You put in 5 useless items in the device and you get 1 useless item... Oh wait!
/Talisman League(2015/2016) Oh look, Synthesis League(2019) = Talisman League all over again. |

" Self found is already viable/enjoyable for endgame. And with all your suggestions, I think your TLDR should have been "GGG please design an other game", or to be more logical "I should play an other game". IGN : @Morgoth Last edited by Morgoth2356#3009 on Jun 1, 2015, 6:12:27 PM

because the majority (?) of players have traded atleast once. because youd have to change the way item dropping works (party play). because not everyone enjoys selffound (the majority possibly?). because trading is NOT required to play this game, as some people have shown. because if you want to play selffound, you can just play selffound.

for once, it's refreshing to not hear the usual 'you can balance the game not around the trade and keep the trade in'. so, props on avoiding that pitfall many fall victims to.
but honestly- removing trade will never happen. its a feature, not a bug, and a big feature at that that. I dont see much of evidence that GGG has re-evaluated their stance. Where they re-evaluated their stance is making the early game more accessible to casual and arpg noobs. In fact, the lack of urgency a new trading system for years, I personally take as a statement of 'we are ok with the trading system and how it is now, eventually we'll make something similar to procurement so you can be sure you are not putting your account at stake" there are two things that keep poe a largely social game for now- trade and competitive leagues/races. these are two main staples big streamers and poe stand on. I dont see those elephants moved any time soon or in the near future. there are plenty of games out there where items are bound on account or effectively are selffound. poe's chief goal isnt a single-player experience. |
