Why don’t we remove trading altogether?

Sorry, but the trading and loot system is the main reason that this game doesn't bore me like Diablo 3 does. The self-found style of diablo 3 bores me after a week or two of playing it, because it feels like a completely single player game.

I like trading, I like finding rare drops that people actually want. I like being able to pick out gear and use my hard earned currency to buy it.

Self-found bores me after a while, and I think many people who play this game instead of Diablo 3 would say the same.

I would probably quit the game and never play again if trading was taken out of it.
Support!

Loot tables are awesome @RuneScape.

Should be awesome to see it on here too!

21 pages too, unbelievable :D

Why don't we just turn it into a FPS while we're at it? With spaceships.

Because the BOA FPS with spaceships market is already cornered by the game Destiny ... it's a damn fine game even if I do say so myself.

Touché !!!

My biggest gripe with the d3 loot system is, that 99,9% of the loot you drop is absolute trash.

Rares are absolutely worthless, they don't even have the potential to be good (as legendaries will always be better (because they are rares with better mod ranges and added unique modifiers)) and as such their only use is selling them or turning them into crafting materials.

So you run through the game pick up everything and don't even look at 99% of it. The only thing worth inspecting is your occasional legendary drop (and even then its "Oh it's not ancient -> trash".

In PoE that one rare you picked up could potentially be the best item ever dropped (even if it is really really really unlikely), so every drop has at least some value and is worth inspecting.

What does D3 have anything at all to do with trading in POE?

Absolutely nothing.

Biggest red herring in this thread - easiest way to "magic hands" people away from the crux of the issue? "D3 this - D3 that - D3... D3... D3..."

How about if you guys want to talk about D3 you make an off topic thread and go hard.

We're here talking about trade, loot, drops in a game called Path of Exile. Stay on topic, please.

To me this sounds like a "We want better drop rates" thread. The only thing preventing people from effectively playing selffound seem to be those (As you don't need to trade if you don't want to, but can't reach the same goals as the ones who trade).

I think Shagsbeard's advice was the best solution to the issue so far.

The question is - why dont you just go play World of Warcraft?
The current trading system plagues this game very badly. Some serious changes must be made.

Current trading system?

what trading system, the game has no trade system (aside from a 3rd party one)

Granted that 3rd party one works alright but what if it suddenly shut down?
I dont see any any key!

It's funny how 3rd party mentioning is also a bad thing. Imaging how huge other games rely on 3rd party involvement just as much. Let's take WoW as an example. Without add-ons that game would be unplayable lol. And what about the gazillions other games that are being kept up by mods etc.
D3 is relevant to the discussion because they removed trading. Did their game get any better/worse? I don't have a basis for an opinion as I haven't gone back. The game doesn't suit me, and drop rates were not the problem.

Drop rates aren't the problem here either. Here, the game will kill you unless you have gear or skills developed that allow you to mitigate the lack of gear.

So people without skills rely on gear and they see the drop rates as a barrier to progress. If they increased the drop rates in PoE, I'd find the game far less interesting.
