Back on topic, if everyone has to upgrade their PCs to pack the latest vidcards to play the game, something is seriously wrong. The fact that buying a SSD (an expensive alternative) will solve issues that people have with the game is a blatant sign of how bad the game is optimized. It's only gotten worse over the years from CB to OB to release.

Pulling another example, looking at this thread here http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1153743, the OP claims to play Mass Effect, a graphics intensive game, with no issue and even some of the more recent games like Dishonored and Wolfenstein with no problem. Then he tries Necropolis's Merveil and his PoE client freezes. If this isn't a clear indicator that the game is badly optimized, nothing else will disuade the nonbeliever.

Buying a SSD helps all games though. It helps eliminate load times. You can also use a RAMdisk.

And a 630M is a very very low end graphics card btw.

I think nobody is arguing that other games are better optimized than PoE. Comparing the id Tech engine (Wolfenstein) to PoE's engine is a bit unfair though ;) That graphics card is shit, end of story.

Ya cause comparing AAA game's optimization to PoE's makes sense. Quality contribution right there. Its not a matter of not believing you guys, its a matter of pointing out the obvious. Go on though, compairing a game from a company that started work on the engine in a garage with 3 guys to a billion dollar company produced stuff. Learn 2 understand how the world works.

I am comparing PoE to PoE. current PoE vs. Open Beta PoE. the same damn game I used to play on medium settings with the same "potato PC" with even less RAM, and now can't even properly play on manually-modified "mud" settings.
I am comparing an ARPG which never really was about graphics by genre definition, to a super-intensive FPS that's all about graphics, by genre definition, which runs better for fuck's sake.
I am saying that instead of remaining the same, or preferably getting better as GGG learn the term "production quality" better, the game got worse in terms of stability, over time - because GGG aren't. fucking. doing. enough.

therefore I am saying it is about damn time to actually do something, serious, about optimization, before even your own prized super-troll PCs won't be enough the way this is going.

but you aren't fucking listening, and you will always come up with dumb excuses that make me rage and want to break something. GPU is bad. PC is a "potato". buy SSD. what else huh?

alienware laptop (was friends from 3-4 years ago)
macbook 13" 2014 model (under windows)
beastly machine from 2 years ago (lol) i5 2700k with nvidia 660 card
My mom's desktop which is similar to ^ except no ssd or desecrate video card.

Both the mac and the beastly machines used SSDs.

John when do you actually play the game because it seems like you are on the forums much more then your total playtime?

also what is up with people acting like GGG is STILL 3 guys in a garage working on a little science project.
Stop talking smack about GGG, they have gone true great lengths to get out of that garage and make something deserving a bigger foundation. And they have, now it's up to them to keep it being deserving of that foundation or it will end up in a box again.

JohnKeys observation is spot on. The game has gotten great additions and every single one has been placed on-top of the other without optimizing first.

Goddamn i play this game so much and i have experienced boxes performing worse and worse with every new addition to the game. Jeweler box suppose to drop jewels right? Thought luck it drops artisan stuff.
Box suppose to spawn 3 magic packs right? Though luck, 3 white packs pop out.

All of this shit was far less prevalent in ambush league and now it happens every 1/3 box.

GGG is shooting themselves in the foot with the speed they release new content. They should allow themselves some breathing room between new content to thoroughly optimize it in tandem with old content.

It makes no sense to release new content that undermines the old, performance wise.

I think the point that most folks seem to be missing is that POE should not require a top-end machine to run well.

We should have more flexibility to customize what we see on screen. Period. I don't care if it runs at 90FPS, I want to be able to disable particle effects.
