I think the point that most folks seem to be missing is that POE should not require a top-end machine to run well.
We should have more flexibility to customize what we see on screen. Period. I don't care if it runs at 90FPS, I want to be able to disable particle effects.
Agreed.

yes. and I mention it in my OP.
but that does not replace optimization. it's a mid-step to allow better a gameplay experience while major stability tweaks are being worked on. on priority.

A mid-step, yes. More importantly, its the lowest hanging fruit.

You are also correct. Still, the point I made earlier about people playing on below bares should not expect anything more than a below than avg experience. Sometimes people need to realize that it's a hardware issue.

Sure.
My main issue with that line of thought is the bar is being set far, far too high. Barebones settings in this game should be adequate for a huge variety of systems-- it's not.

Then how are so many people playing the game with bare bones hw now?

Because this game is poorly optimized. Yes, it may work flawlessly for system A, B, and C. Systems D through ZZZ on the other hand...
When you have a situation like that, it's best to allow the end-user a broad spectrum of settings. And, it's best to assume that the end-user's machine falls under that unfortunate D-ZZZ umbrella.

Path of runescape is not the same as path of exile, best not to forget that imo.
These people are forced to play path of runescape when in reality, they should be offered adjustable settings to allow them to play path of exile.(by forced i mean, if they want to participate in the game, nobody is forced to play, duh)
the laughable part about this is, that ggg stated that they care about immersion when it suits there goals.

Ok so they spent time and money developing these affects that work on most peoples machines that aren't potatos and while you have a work around to play the game, your complaining because GGG doesn't want to allow for you to turn off certain affects?
I mean if you paid for the game I guess you could complain...

ok that's enough ya fucking trolls!
I am not comparing PoE to a AAA title.
I am comparing PoE to PoE. current PoE vs. Open Beta PoE. the same damn game I used to play on medium settings with the same "potato PC" with even less RAM, and now can't even properly play on manually-modified "mud" settings.
I am comparing an ARPG which never really was about graphics by genre definition, to a super-intensive FPS that's all about graphics, by genre definition, which runs better for fuck's sake.
I am saying that instead of remaining the same, or preferably getting better as GGG learn the term "production quality" better, the game got worse in terms of stability, over time - because GGG aren't. fucking. doing. enough.
therefore I am saying it is about damn time to actually do something, serious, about optimization, before even your own prized super-troll PCs won't be enough the way this is going.
but you aren't fucking listening, and you will always come up with dumb excuses that make me rage and want to break something. GPU is bad. PC is a "potato". buy SSD. what else huh?
what fucking else???
that's what you are here for, and every. single. additional post I waste in answering you is just repeating myself against the same bullshit over, and over, and over again.
that, is not a discussion.
that's piling up bullshit until I snap.
well guess what? I just fucking did!
so, unless you have something valuable to contribute to the discussion.
and/or unless you actually realize what kind of damage you are dealing to the game with that "all is fine" attitude - please.
get.
the fuck.
out.
thank you.
I used to think I needed your posts to bump this thread.
now I don't.
it's not worth the toll reading your crap takes on my nerves.
I was talking to Islidox, no need to be so self-centered good sir :) And if I see a shitty GPU, I will call it a shitty GPU.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
