I think it is time, to finally consider stability
" I completely agree with the bolted part. What i disagree with is the decision to stress the engine they designed past it's intended use. If you can't comprehend how somebody who likes and plays this game still feels this way, then bummer and shucks and all that. (btw the game runs smooth for me on all standard settings, so i am not even experiencing the issue's presented in this thread) What i want is for PoE to flourish and the way they are adding content that is eliminating specs from participating in the game is a bad move imo. The same goes for not adding options to disable particle effect's that dramatically hinder team-play. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

K ill humor you cause you're not going full [Removed by Support] on me. I agree that the current engine is not up to par to handle their planned 10 acts on it. Not even close. For Act 4 and maybe 5? Sure.
I think they should be working on a new engine and a sequel while the iron is hot and not waste the momentum and resources on further optimizing a product that by and large runs well on mid-high end systems. If you're poor, or you run a potato I feel bad for you, but that's the extent of it. GGG should be looking to the future. Optimizing an already old, and pretty crummy engine is in no one's best interests. Don't forget to drink your milk 👌

I'm glad you decided to get serious, Wretch, because you and Xavderion repeating the same crap and straws across 15ish pages - is what made me snap.
this post makes me take back the "get the fuck out" part. " a more than valid opinion. personally, I'd like to see a PoE 2 as well, at some point. but I strictly disagree the current engine is unsalvageable, and think they really should invest some hard work on it. while simultaneously giving the player more control over what he/she'd like to see on the screen, and in what quality or detail. that - in essence - is the point of this thread. and let's get 2 things straight: 1) define "mid-high end systems". this thread alone provided a handful of examples, for systems capable of running games which are - on paper - more demanding than PoE, but not PoE. not in its current state. and yes, that includes my own "potato". same potato that already ran PoE on higher settings in the past, like I said in my "snap post". same potato with a history of running stuff like FPS games and 3rd-person games packed to the brim with graphics and effects. not all of which were AAA titles, btw, because I'm a huge Indie fan. 2) give me one more example of a game or even just a piece of software, which was more stable at Beta and/or certain parts of early release, than it was long after release and after being patched more than a handful of times. it baffles me. it really does. Anything with an i5 and a 2GB 600 card will run everything on max for you. We're talking a few hundred dollars here not a NASA machine.
E: Srsly John, how many times have they addressed this directly? They're looking for an engine guy but cant find one( or maybe they have since I dunno). What do you want from them?! Don't forget to drink your milk 👌 Last edited by TheWretch#7848 on Dec 30, 2014, 12:25:44 AM

Don't even need a quad core. Any 3.2GHz dual core would work. The game only runs on one.
E: Here's a good website btw. This is an example of the player with a 630M. Scroll down to the bottom for game comparisons. http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-630M.63761.0.html Last edited by SL4Y3R#7487 on Dec 30, 2014, 12:38:27 AM

I've been on a no-carb diet for a while and after this thread I'd really like to eat a potato...
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" Man, have you read any of the other posts? We want optimizations and debugging which can be done without redoing PoE. There are so many simple bugs, of which many were introduced in all the patches, that the same team of programmers could easily spend a week doing nothing but simple fixes and make THIS game (not Poe2, which I'm actually really hoping for) much, much better. And if there were more graphics options, then even PCs which don't exceed the original specs posted by GGG (and which should suffice for such a simple game) by more than an order of magnitude could play this game all right. Some people are just dense, it seems. There is no upside to bad performance. You lose customers, you lose reputation and you cannot possibly personally feel good about your shoddy work. " Definitely. They should be working on porting game assets onto a licensed 3D engine and call it PoE 2.0 or whatever... Because this school project coded in 2007 is beyond repair. But meanwhile, they should give more options to toggle the more offending effects (E: rain, ground effects, shrine auras, maybe even MTX of party members...)
