Necropolis Merveil NVidia Massacre
-> Haven't played Necropolis since like March 2014.
-> Enter new boss room. -> Lag like hell. -> somehow survived first burst of Ice Spears -> Somehow managed to kill Merveils first form. -> Second form emerges -> more icy columns thingys.... ->lag ->freeze .... ->black screen of death. New Merveil just killed my NVidia graphic card. Stupid particles. How can a game developed so long ago kill modern day computers? Stupid. Dumb. Frustrating and now really expensive. Nothing good or special: NVidia Geforce 630M.
I play already on lowest settings etc. The are two reasons screwing my PoE experience since open beta. Desynch and stupid damn fuckin particles. The first one has no solution since GGG are apparently wanted it this way ('cause you know, evasion and other shiznit, like crits have to be confirmed, you have actually to aim with several skills, etc.). I am fine with that. Ok fuck no, I am not fine with that, but I am accepting this. The second issue is plain stupid. It could be solved just by adding a button in the options: turn off the fuckin particles. I mean my game already looks like shit. It doesn't matter if it looks even more shittier (atmospheric game, "we need the rain" what a crappile....), but it matter when cetrain bosses and/or environments are beginning to kill my hardware. I like my hardware. And I need it for work, so I can has monies and maybe one day buy all that fancy microtransaction... Probably they will wreck my hardware even more... |

Well you play on a laptop, that explains a lot...
Basically the minimum/recommended requirements GGG has posted are enough to basically run the game. Actually playing it smoothly requires much better hardware. Playing on your laptop taxes your card to the limit -> heat -> eventually burns out. Could have happened with any modern game you tried to play. It just chance PoE was on when it happened. Don't play taxing computer games on mid-range laptops or better yet don't play them on a laptop at all. As for particles - there is a hack floating around the internet. I used it on my old PC to improve performance, but it turns the game incredibly ugly and certain particles you need won't be shown at all (poison cloud of zombies being one example). I can run almost all games smoothly on my laptop. Mass Effect Trilogy didn't glitch once. Same goes for something like Dishonored, new Wolfenstein, etc etc. etc. The only games that lag is PoE and Marvel Heroes. The source for Marvel Heroes lags are too many players (since its basically mmo, when I solo cosmic terminals the game is basically lagless).
I think, I get banned for using that hack. This is ridicoulus. And btw. PoE is not taxing, its engine is just idiotic. Ok, different, it is taxing because the engine is crap. Thats all. Last edited by Banev#5008 on Dec 29, 2014, 9:09:11 AM
