Played D3:RoS since release till now, heres the results!
" i just said what RoS is like. just don't know poe! as i'm a total n00b here. let me give it a try ^^ -no sociality as there is no real interaction between players except running together, as there is no guild trade, no guild stash, no events. just a chat and a tag. -no reroll as only an attribute per item can be changed, and on many legs there are many random attributes. a bad item is still a bad item, also if you reroll one number. |

" 1. All rare items, at the point where you can only find an upgrade in legendaries, are crafting materials, whether in salvaging or selling. Of course you won't be able to upgrade your gear without them, and that's where you're contradicting yourself. 2. No, you are lying about only handful of them having a "legendary affix". Rings are certainly the worst gear pieces at that area, at least from my experience. All others are in a decent position, yet still require a lot more work. The caps-locked word "most" implies that it's a huge majority, yet it's not, it's a majority, but nowhere near that. Legendary item =/= Unique item. 3. Yes they are, as they should be? And yes, you cannot trade for them, there is no easy way out. Your TLDR... the rare part is already touched in 1. After you hit that gear wall, it's all about min-maxing, as it should be. Most legendaries are crafting materials. Not getting closer to a gear piece? Well yes, there's no "20 exalts more and the item is mine". You have to play the game more and on the harder difficulty, and that's increasing your chance of getting that gear piece. There is a reason to reroll another Barbarian, especially if you won't use the gear dropped on the former one. There is a huge chance you won't end up using the same skills and runes on them, depending on the gear drop. But overall, yes, it's not that shiny to reroll the same class, if you want to play a different skill in the same class, you just do it if you want. However, rolling different classes is fine. But hey, at least you won't end up rerolling a character because you had no luck, which is the #1 reason of rerolling in PoE. D3 Ros is a fine game, average game, it has many weak points, but has few of them that are top notch. PoE is a better game overall, it has many great points, but has few of them that are horrible. @Kevanfield What's a real interaction? Trading? Not a chance. What events for improving sociability? If you end up gambling (crafting) in your whole playtime in PoE, in a pursuit of a great item in a way other than Alching white bases or Chaos spamming... And ultimately, if you'll want it, prepare for a tradefest. Last edited by tinko92#6447 on May 14, 2014, 11:17:55 AM

" Do you really think this is the case? All of my re-rolls have come from gear drops or reading about a neat build on the forums... I wonder if anyone re-rolls because of no luck? |

" What a bunch of.... 1)Isnt the same for POE?I mean all items, aren't salvagable materials?A rare in poe is RARE indeed,it can outtop a unique item in terms of dps and usefulness,if you build around it 2)And while we are at it,no LEGENDARYS are not UNIQUES.Not in the slightest form they are now 3)Yes they shouyld be.However here, there is an option to do this, even if i wont.In D3 no. Rerolling a barbarian makes no sense. If you want you get the new equipment you found and change skills on the fly and there you go. Rerolling on POE is exploring new BUILDS.BUILDS.Did i say BUILDS?There is no such thing in D3.The rerolled barbarian can have the same stats your other barbarian has if you dont give them the proper items. And even if you give them the items, that cant be called a "build".There is no insentive to make another one. The main reason of rerolling its just that.No luck walls or anything. Its just the fun you can get out of your new BUILDS.Those BUILDS,which are literaly too freakin many, and you can watch this in the section of each char.I have 24 chars in POE.Each different. In D3 i could have one char and a potato and still the potato could be the same. They can work on sociability though. But as it stands now, trading also is a sociability action, which d3 lacks. D3 is a fun game, below average,it has many weak points, indeed And at least here i can take the chance to make a white item into a Bis gear. Bye bye desync!

" 1. The difference between vendoring a rare item in PoE and D3 is in the amount of materials you get and what can you do/produce with them. Big difference. A RARE item means it's rare, just that. It's common sense that a LEGENDARY item would outperform a RARE item. At least in the right combo mod. I repeat: Legendary item =/= unique item. 2. Funny how you say that only when it's convenient, even though it's completely irrelevant to what I've wrote. 3. Same with the options, when it's convenient, people call out on options, and yet when it isn't, choices/options aren't good. But yes, you have an option here, a much easier way to get items, and yet D3 is the casual one, funny? Funny. It makes sense, maybe not to you, but it does to me, but it's not as good as rerolling another class. If you don't have that equipment for the certain skill combos you'd want, then rerolling makes sense. That's just your opinion on rerolling, it's fine, but it's nowhere near a fact. And no, not every Barbarian is the same, you are a liar for saying that, but I guess you have to find a way to feel good about yourself. Trading is a chore to most players, logically. Sociability that comes with it is mostly frustration over prices. It's a negative aspect of a sociability. Rarely ever happens when two players continue to interact after a trade is done. And trade rarely ends up as a nice experience. How many players have made a BiS from a normal item? There's your chance ;) |

" This made me chuckle. The same reason some people condemn PoE for (too much RNG and thus endless grind needed) is suddenly a great thing in D3. Such hypocrisy. (btw the harder difficulty part is wrong, most people stop at T2-T3 because it's most efficient due to much higher clear speed compared to T6) GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

So fun dying to desync in 2week charity event. Like SO fun.
I am happy though because to me it's just further proof to exactly what I was saying in this thread: when I die in D3 I feel complete ownership and can take full accountability for that death... whereas in POE when I died, yet again I get the sense of mystery... like how the fuck after my death I type /oos to see me a full 15 body lengths from where I thought I was away. LOL D3 > POE on so many levels. I'm not even mad at the time I just lost either... anything to lend further credibility to my argument is fine by me. I killed every single Invasion boss I came across with no issues... I killed every boss I came across with no issues... then a pack of white mobs ends me hahahahahahahaha... such a joke. =p |

Wow, I am surprised this thread hasn't been moved to Off-Topic yet. GG!
Remember when I won a screenshot contest and made everyone butt-hurt? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
