I am happy though because to me it's just further proof to exactly what I was saying in this thread: when I die in D3 I feel complete ownership and can take full accountability for that death... whereas in POE when I died, yet again I get the sense of mystery... like how the fuck after my death I type /oos to see me a full 15 body lengths from where I thought I was away. LOL
D3 > POE on so many levels. I'm not even mad at the time I just lost either... anything to lend further credibility to my argument is fine by me.
I killed every single Invasion boss I came across with no issues... I killed every boss I came across with no issues... then a pack of white mobs ends me hahahahahahahaha... such a joke. =p
Just because you cry louder, doesn't mean you are right.
D3 lacks depth severely. Fact. Is it a bad game entirely on its own? No. Is it a huge letdown to those who know what Diablo once was, and what it could have been? Yes. All the rage and qq on the D3 forum, is from those who are mad, and frustrated at the lack of intelligence that Blizzard displays for their own game. It seems that for all of their successes, D3 is still the 'red headed stepchild'.
So, to say that "D3 > PoE", can be debatable. It depends on the person. But as far as cold hard facts go, it is impossible to argue that PoE lacks depth compared to D3 because that is simply false.

The facts remain: you can fight through invasion bosses... quest bosses... blue/yellow mobs... have literally zero issues at all (except once I admittedly hit 40 life on the docks to a rapid attack double attacking pack of blue dogs) - and then the only time you die in HARDCORE mode is to a pack of WHITE MOBS. You cannot possibly talk about depth of game play with me - you have no basis at all in that discussion... there is no depth of play period when you can die to a desync based on horrible game design. The game engine killed me - not my actions.
It's like buying a book at a store - getting through about 5 chapters... getting into the story... and then finding out that someone tore out the pages remaining in the book. No depth when you can't even read the story... because the method of story delivery is gone. Period. So don't even think you have a leg to stand on for depth in this game - when the method of delivery is totally fucking broken.

This made me chuckle. The same reason some people condemn PoE for (too much RNG and thus endless grind needed) is suddenly a great thing in D3. Such hypocrisy.
(btw the harder difficulty part is wrong, most people stop at T2-T3 because it's most efficient due to much higher clear speed compared to T6)
The loot system is not against players. To get a certain BiS item in D3 is incredibly, outworldly more likely to happen than getting a BiS item in PoE, whether it's one of those top uniques or even worse, a BiS rare item.
How many players (Barbarians) dropped Thunderfury (for example)? A lot.
How many players dropped a BiS rare item? That's right.
No, the harder difficulty is right, you would learn that from your own experience if you've experienced it (and not playing on Normal and then talk around how easy D3 is, now that was hilarious), You've read it somewhere and that's just an experience of a small minority.
But yeah, nice jump from T3 to T6. Of course it's a big difference.

Desync happens in Diablo 3, and many other games in the ARPG genre that are online. I have died to lag/desync/disconnect whatever you want to call it in both games.
Admittedly, Diablo 3 has many less occurrences of desync compared to PoE, but...and this is a big but, (OMG Becky....) the book that fails to deliver here is Diablo 3. Oh, wait a second... did you forget to mention the crap servers, shared with Hearthstone servers, that lag on inventory open, player join, guild mate or friend log on, guild mates i.d.ing legendary items, horrible fps issues in certain points in the game, especially Bridge of Korsikk, and the list goes on and on.
So yeah, we can argue back and forth about connection and technical issues until we are blue in the face, or knuckles, but at the end of the day, fanboy or not of either game, the facts remain that PoE is in its core gameplay design ethic, more in depth, and complex than D3 can ever hope to be, unless it goes through a total reboot with competent developers, who can be original and have the desire to make a gamers game, and not a share holders game.

I used to play D3 vanila about a year and half if not 2 years ago. I quickly found the loot drops were crap, and the only way to progress was through buying gear in the auction house. I also quickly found that the top end equipment were out of reach due to insane prices.. So I quit and found PoE.
I played PoE for about a year and half, but the trading (insane gear cost to build end game builds and lack of fun right after you get there), and lack of loot turned me off.
After felling out in love with Poe, I tried RoS, and never looked back (until now that I'm bored at work so I check on PoE forum). Here's my take:
1) There is challenge, but not too hard
I only been to Torment 6 by accident, but man it is DIFFICULT!
PoE some map bosses are just insane and the 1 shot mechanic I just didn't like... oh and desync too.
2) Rifts cost less to run compared to maps
No need to worry about how much currency to burn on maps (maps that have little reward).
I can just open a rift, even with 3 other strangers in public game, and I don't feel too bothered about the cost. After all, you usually get a leg, or soul, and shards from each rift.
3) Graphics, game engine feel so smooth, and no desync! Also the game doesn't crash at all!
4) All legendary equipment are bound on account
So you can only trade good gear with friends you are playing in the same game session, and you cant just go buy the best equipment. I actually like this a lot, and it is probably 40% of the reason why I play RoS still. After playing RoS, I actually think that trading sucks!
Solo no trading actually works in RoS! and grinding mobs actually feel rewarding!
5) Loot 2.0
Much better loot than D3 Vanilla, and loot that your character can actually use! It's harder to gear compared to trading, but at least good gear don't cost billions of gold, or hundreds of exa equivalent, which is out of reach for a casual gamer like me.
Each time I play I look forward to getting the next gear I need to improve. When I play PoE, I just don't get that feeling anymore, because good gear never drops... if it does drop, normally I just trade it for currency...
You don't have to be hardcore 24/7 player to have good gear with the new loot system, and you just play and as time goes on, those legendaries will drop for you.
This is another 40% reason why I play RoS.
6) Character imbalance
Yes the 6 characters in RoS are imbalanced, Wiz and Monks suck mostly in end game atm, and Witch Doctor is the flavour of the month. How I get around it? I have all 6 characters at level 70.
7) Lack of build depth?
Yes you can't go hardcore and min-max and dream up lots of builds compared to PoE, but I'm never that hardcore anyways, and it's a good break for me not having to think about how to balance reflect, damage mitigation, gear required to get the build working at 78 maps, and most importantly the exas required to get the gear!
8) Character respec
You can change your skills at will, no need for orbs to respec, and no need to level up another character
9) Paragon points
When I play PoE, leveling to a certain point around late 80s to early 90 usually feels like a job, and I just feel I should stop leveling at such point, which makes playing that particular character less rewarding.
With Paragon points, actually feels as I am still leveling the character and I look forward to spend more points to make my character stronger
Peace

What is even the matter of discussion?
Sure, PoE got its issues.
D3 ist just a bad game for noobs. If it wasn't from blizzard noone would even talk about it as mediocre as it is in all aspects.

TLDR -
This game is for me.
And there is nothing wrong with that. It harms no one else that you play another game, and I am glad you enjoy. Like I said I totally don't hate D3. Enjoy it for what it is if you can, because it can't get much better.
Yes Loot 2.0 made things bearable, but you still need CC/CDMG to be of relevance. You still have to use a green gem in your weapon. 2H weapons are still crap, and only useful for Crusaders. There is no build diversity besides which element you are going to stack. And I know you are ok with that because you have no desire to delve that deep into a game. But what about the others. The Diablo 2 fans. The ones who craved diversity, and options, and choices that matter. The ones who wanted real itemization. The ones who realize D3 is a step back in almost every way compared to D2, graphics and smooth, fast gameplay aside.
Look, play what you want people. I could care less. I know I can't pull out statistical data in an instant and prove to you most people are left wanting with RoS. But what I can observe and compile, is the general attitude towards the overall execution of RoS, which is unsatisfied. And with good reason.
There is a simple way to look at this. If you have never played D2, you will probably have a blast in Diablo 3. For those who have played Diablo 2, and other notable ARPGs, will be left disappointed. In my opinion, Diablo 3 should have catered to the huge Diablo 2 fans, of which there are many, and then add casual, accessible options second. For example, take what was a pain in the ass in Diablo 2, and revise it along with the good and update and add onto it, not strip it down and take away.
I love pie.

I'm playing D3 at the moment and having great fun as a party action beat'm up game (arcade).
I'm over the whole *look what they did to Diablo* thing and it helped me to just completely disconnect the game from the Diablo franchise when I play.
It also helps not to ever do the rainbow warrior realm as that map would most certainly keep me bitter about the game.Again,I just forget it's in game and everything is peachy. lol

This x1000.
Man there were just so many awesome and special builds for every single class in D2. Interesting build enabling uniques, runewords, bosses. D3 vanilla was such a giant slap in the face after having grown up with D2.
But I also understand that D3 and PoE now are two very different games targeting very different players. Apples to oranges almost.
