Btw, I have played hundreds of hours of RoS and I have crafted alot. You can craft a good set in an evening, easily. Its infinetly more rewarding than the slot machines they call crafting in PoE.
What do you do with old gear that is slightly worse than gear you craft? Does it just get thrown away?
Crush it at the smith. =)

Use it when he wants to reroll the character.

GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

I rerolled a new WItchdoctor last night. =P
It has rules attached to it however.Pets and pet related skills/passives only.
I could have saved a ton of gear for it to use as it levels, but then again I like my characters in all games to be self sustaining from the word go.
I'm also going to return to D3 hardcore in the next few days and start rolling two new Witchdoctors.
=)

By the time you have found 1 exalt you can have farmed 1000 crafting mats easily. And every crafting mat has a much higher chance of giving you what you are looking for than the exalt.
Biggest load of BS. I can only assume you haven't played RoS. Further, why would someone whose running T6 be looking for crafting mats in the first place? Drop that % down to what 40? And even then, guess what, you're menu farming bounties to get the monster anyways.
It's about as much fun as zone farming for fragments. Which sucks. Both games failed miserably in that regard. Enter, escape, enter, escape. Can't believe both teams fell for that.
I play RoS, I play on T6, I agree with Sickness.
In my 1,5 year of playing PoE I never felt that I craft anything except endless, JOs, OFs, chromes or tabs of alteration put on flasks. I only once crafted anything useful for end-gmae with happy chaos.
I now drop every other day to PoE to do a map or two and by doing so, I never complain for drop in RoS. Never :)
And I prefer to play solo self found, so I give a fuck if I can trade here or not, I'm avoiding it as disease.

You salvage it to get mats for next upgrade obviously. There is not problem to gearing character for leveling so no point in storing crap like here.

Sorry, it was legit. I'm waiting for RoS to come to console so I can play with my kids. Haven't looked at anything for it on pc.

Good decision to wait for the xpac on PS3.
The current version is pretty loltastic for drops, you're even given free legendrys upon character creation. =)
By the time I got to Belial even my followers were pretty much decked out in legendrys

Thanks for the topic OP!
After playing old D3 for some time i came over to PoE. These games serve different audiences, PoE for those who like in-depth game with infinite replayability that is enjoyable every time and D3 for casual adventure without too much theorycrafting. Didnt buy D3:RoS because i knew it wouldnt be any better than original, too mediocre, ive already let go of it, PoE has taken "hardcore" arpg genre mantle, so ive enjoyed it for now. All im saying is that i find PoE exciting enough not to look at other games and this is very hard to do for game developers. I also love how interactive they are with players, its as if they sincere about theyr game.
Anyway, all the best for all of you!

Yup, I also was so exited after 3 months of PoE, but after 12 more, I stopped to be so enthusiastic ;)
Yup, I can plan here, investigate new mechanics etc. It's fun and all, but if you start to play and see that you drop shit and there next to none chance that you drop this nice new unique you would like to build around... it starts to be boring.
For me at the moment, PoE is about planning and RoS is about playing. But as planning without means to realize plans is rather futile, I focus more on playing now. I hope that PE devs will revisit drops balance, it would make me return to play more.
