Ultimately, we believe that having an FFA-based system is good for the general health of the game. When you play in a group with completely player-bound, invisible-to-others loot like Diablo 3 or Torchlight 2, you really get the feeling that you're playing in a bubble. The other players with you might as well be bots, and there is little shared or vicarious joy in lucky stuff that drops. That's something we're definitely trying to avoid.

We've tinkered around with a lot of different loot timers, and we've found that when we extend them, even by a little bit, the pace of the game drags considerably. You want to just be moving along all the time, going from pack to pack, blowing stuff up. The last thing you want to be doing is standing around every time some stuff dies, waiting for all your little bars to decay.

They sound pretty sure to me - FFA or semi-ffa is and will hopefully continue to be, a core element of the gameplay design.

The entirety of that quote reads to me that the devs hear the complaints and are reiterating the philosophy of the design choice. There may be small additional tweaks, but FFA is a key part of the game.

It is definitely not a "key part of the game". He's arguing why they prefer FFA loot, which is totally fine. However, they're still discussing it internally (as Chris' mentioned earlier).

Yeah only because D3 crybaby-carebears came here whining that they want full respecs and instanced loot.
IF that happens, im out.

If that is your attitude to people expressing an alternate opinion, then your departure wouldn't be much of a loss to this community.

I'd personally hate to see full respecs in this game, but I'm not going to insult someone just because they post asking for it.
This game is pretty much is SP and will stay SP as long as those carnivorous loot options are in place.

This illustrates one of my points that I made earlier. Why have a looting system based on being the fastest to pick something up when the game emphasizes putting massive amounts of time into your skill tree either through planning ahead, or throwing away time invested to make a new character. If anything the passive skill system is slow to me.

Point being that they said it "slows down the game" but the lack of a re-spec option slows it down a hell of a lot more. They are sending some real mixed messages.

I actually really like this idea.

If you don't like the loot system, don't play. I'm pretty tired of idiots crying about the loot system. You can play with friends to avoid it, join a guild, or play solo. The loot timer is only there as a grace period for the really big newbs to realize that there's loot on the floor. You should be grateful for that.

I dont understand why discussing something in the place it should be discussed is crying? Can you explain that to me?

Since when do people only buy cosmetic stuff for people to see how much of a little snowflake they are? I get cosmetic stuff so I can see them myself and look cooler.. not playing an online game to compensate for lack of something IRL..
