Appeal to GGG – Mana leech

I decided to stop playing unless the leech mechanics are reverted. I am just a standard league player using all self found gear except for a couple of gems. I am using a pretty low power lightning strike build that is not mini-maxed or "Op" as people say. I care more about my build development and having fun growing my character slowly. However, my net experience gain since the patch has been negative and my deaths have been on maps that previously would have been challenging but doable without a character death and that provide less experience than that lost from a single death.

I would guess that it is not possible to get a refund for points purchased from the online store. I still have 80 left that I was planning to spend on a new alt, but given GGG's demonstration that time spent developing and getting comfortable with a new character might be flushed down the toilet with the next "expansion" I just do not think it is worth my valuable free time. Maybe I should just request a refund anyway on the outside chance it wills end one of hundreds of tiny messages to the debs that will add up to something they hear.

^- Bump, Seems the ONLY way to play is use your mana tank for aura's, and Blood Magic your skills.
That way, you can just do maps without aura's on for blood magic, and not have to skip 50/100% no mana regen maps. (Even if you spend upto 25% of your build getting faster regen to cover your 5L skill, your still F'ed without blood magic.)

Could someone please explain exactly what got changed? From what? To what?

I've read through the entire thread and haven't seen anyone post what it is specifically.

If someone did already, I apologize for my random selective blindness. I'm perfectly capable of not seeing something right in front of me. :)

Thanks.

The changes to lifeleech was also applied to mana leech, alot of people now can't even use their attacks anymore with the changes. The old mana leech gave them just enough.

@sidtherat/Fruz

You guys can say that the mana leech changes were the greatest thing ever, but you guys are missing that they didn't reevaluate all of the other options to gain back mana. They didn't "rebalance" the mana regain game, they just straight up nerfed an aspect of it that broke many people characters. It doesn't "Create" diversity when now people are going to use BM/BM gem or some EB/Mom character or aura based character with high levels of clarity.

no more braindead, one-dimensional builds with 100nodes into damage and life and ZERO into mana

i always thought is funny when people did nothing with mana and loudly claimed that 'you cant sustain mana!'

you cant, because you decided to put 5 more points into damage to inflate your paper dps from million to 2millions instead of putting them into mana nodes

finally going 'moar daaaamaaagaa!' is not the proper way (previously, due to leech it WAS the proper way)

good luck substituting mana leech with BM gem, without changing your mindset youll all fail miserably as BM gem WAS braindead choice, now you have to plan for it

The life leech changes had to be made because life leech was ridiculously dumb. You could out leech double reflects when you shouldn't be able to. I agree with this.

The mana leech changes were absolute dumb and serve only to push more people into EB or Blood Magic, when anywhere from 70-80% of the builds are running Blood Magic gem anyway, with a handful running EB (since EB is expensive on gear if you want to not get crippled on defenses).

Mana has been a god awful resource since the CB, and people finally were able to overcome such a terrible resource through leech. Now you want to make mana even worse, and just shove everyone into basically a side of the tree? Sure. Let's just screw Rangers/Shadows even more that don't go EB/Blood Magic. That'll teach them!

none of my characters EVER used mana leech nor BM gem for their skills. it can be done but the paper dps is bit smaller. all passive trees/builds i saw of people complaining about mana had one of two:

- no mana nodes whatsoever except the starting one
- one of four mana dimensions (like mana%) covered with no investment into other 3. mana nodes are multiplicative with each other and it is best to have some of each type. this seems to not be widely known

ofc stuff like mana on gear (very effective for non-int chars) never appears..

The leech changes is okay because it doesn't affect you at all?

What about people who have more then one dimension of mana and don't run EB/Blood mana and can't sustain their build? Should we just tell them to BM/EB or something? How does this change increase decision making or build variety. Most people will just in fact do BM/EB (like everyone else) or quit the game after their character is wrecked.

If your going to make big changes like this you need to look at all of the other forms to see if they are up to par and if the skill tree will allow players to fix it. I mean what does this change even do? Top end characters don't worry about mana/a resource anyway.

They didn't buff the nodes on the tree or buff up the affix on the gear or lower mana costs or anything.

i havent seen anyone with balanced tree to post here that he has issues.

what i suspect is: passive trees with zero mana investment + mind drinker + 8aps + 80 unreserved mana with their primary attack costing 70.

greed

and you are wrong: top characters as is 'top dmg characters' DO worry about these changes because most of these top builds had absurd attack speed. and the very builds affected are these with absurd attack speeds

Do you even know what the top builds are?

They usually involve shav + crown low life builds, CoC builds with almost no mana cost, builds that uses soul taker or something similar and so on/EB-Mom builds.

They don't have resource issues.

They are top builds because they do insane amounts of damage while being immune to reflect, while having tons of benefit and without worrying about any resource and doing most map mods.

Also you suspect zero mana investment + mind drinker + 8aps + 80 unreserved mana with their primary attack costing 70? Why is it automatically assume they have a 6 link with the ability to do double aura and so on? You know this change effect tons of other people that can't even support their 5 link properly.

All your doing is blaming the negative impact of changes on "greed" for many people that don't even build that way.
