Appeal to GGG – Mana leech
The mana system has ALWAYS been shit in this game.
The fact that they make it worse is actually quite funny to me. I understood the nerf to life leech - but mana leech? lol. It was already so ridiculously restricting to make a mana build. My current invasion character is going for blood magic just because it's about 100x more likely to actually work. Just more pigeonholing from GGG to ensure more people use the same exact build, and eliminate all those naughty edge cases. GGG will have finished their job when everybody uses the same exact skill build. They can never seem to get the core balance right because they are too busy obsessing over aspects of balance that don't matter. Such an awful balance team. I have a character that does so, and this is why I was interested enough to read this thread. I still don't know what exactly got changed. I see nothing about mana leech in the patch notes, the wiki hasn't been updated last I checked, and no one in this thread has posted any specifics. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? |

changes that you are asking for are simple previously 'leech' queued. that is if you hit two times in quick succession your first leech would have been applied fully and then the second leech currently first leech is immediately canceled/overwritten as soon as the second hit lands (technically: the highest possible leech applies - this affects AOE leech) this affects v.high attack speed (multistike..) builds that leech very little with each hit because their leeches are constantly interrupted by consecutive hits people saying 'f.this! im going to use BM now!' dont know what they are saying - BM with current leech implementation is way harder to sustain than properly gearing/specing for mana |

" Changes to leech, although it just said "life" it's easy to look when it said "if you leech" or the "way leech applies to the player" implying all forms of leech. Straight from patch notes.

The way leech applies to the player has changed. If you leech additional life while currently leeching, it no longer queues after the current leech. Technically, where multiple leeches are stacked, the largest one is used.

" No, this isn't true. "specing" for mana is not a cheap thing. it costs a lot of skillpoints and gear. Blood magic is comparatively easy and much more direct. |

" what do you consider 'expensive' or 'lots of skillpoints'? because last time someone told me it is IMPOSSIBILUEEE! to play with mana his tree had 3 (THREE!) mana nodes and bad ones at that.. BM has the bonus of using mana for auras (dps greed) but with current leech changes it might be surpisingly difficult to sustain oneself on leech alone and that brings us to a solution: just try using mana as it is perfectly possible to work with it. few nodes, one or two affix slots (flat mana + 40% regen is a good start) and surprise surprise it works but i bet people that cry the loudest never actually tried that |

" 3 nodes is a lot - and you're saying it should be MORE? you don't need ANY nodes to use blood magic except more life nodes. all the builds I use are fairly tight. there's no room to go mucking around grabbing 5+ mana nodes. it doens't work. it only works in the early game. once you get a 4L or 5L going it's going to take extreme investment either in gear or nodes. blood magic just works, even now. it's not impossible. i have done mana builds before. i remember the "glory days" of running around chugging pots as a level 82 ranger to keep my mana up. " What the guy means is that life leech is so nerfed that if you have a very high mana cost the life leech may not recover the skill use particularly if spammed. This is what happened to me. Life leech barely covers the cost of the skill thus if u spam your skill you will find yourself losing life and needing to use potions. So pathetic, they have royally fucked up this "balance". Bunch of fucking retards running this game. |

" carry on then. but im pretty sure that ggg decided and there is no going back to the braindead times of 'f.. this, lets leech' i have lvl80 6L cyclone on mana with 2 auras on said mana. no problems. 5L incinerate, had (yet to respec) 1h reaver with 2.2aps sword, ele-crit-wander with 5L siphon etc etc. all on mana, all perfectly viable 3 nodes is cheap compared to socket (or two, because you are then forced to use LL - most of my builds rely on gear for life on hit/leech). so you are spending much more than few passives, you are spending 2 out of 5 or 6 links just to avoid spending said passives. it makes no sense, but carry on |
