So frustrating that the same mistake is repeated in every D2 clone

Not nearly as funny as the high and mighty noobs who try to look down on them.

Can you try and be civil please? You're violating GGG's forum policies, and embarrassing yourself doing it. Grow up.

Finding a full Sigons set by level 40 on 50% of D2 chars? I don't think I'd even say that about Cleglaws....Actually, in >50 chars solo p8 self found to level 40+ in 1.10+, I'm fairly certain I never found a full set on a single char by the end of normal. Don't have my log files here, but from memory, almost all my drops of low set items and crappy uniques happened in higher difficulty levels (stats skewed I suppose by the fact that higher areas had more grinding) and the chars who did find a set all of their own were lucky to complete it by the end of nightmare.

High runes, bis uniques? D2 was lucky to give more than one or two of those every 4 months of fairly heavy but legal play. How many heavy PoE players claim they aren't getting 2 decent drops per league?

It's funny how criticisms of PoE's drop rates always lead to outrageous claims about the fountain of loot from D2, and how you never had low level uniques drop in end game like PoE does, and so on.

I certainly don't think PoE's drop rates are perfect, but they're a lot more similar to D2s than any other ARPG I've played...PoEs drop rates seem a bit higher, but D2 had more variety of desirable items by the end.
From my memory D2 has worse drop rates than PoE. You could only get rich in D2 by trading for duped and botted items on d2jsp. Imo PoE is a lot better in this regard (but certainly far from perfect).
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
GGG has gone in the same direction as D3 did. They have made PoE such that act 3 and end game maps do not deliver the quality loot necessary to keep us on the playing treadmill. The "carrot and stick" psychology of keeping us fed with just enough quality gear as we level up but not so much that we get maxed out with uber gear and quit from boredom runs out at about level 60 or so. By the time we get into Merciless Act 2 and 3 item drops that are better than what we are currently using slows to a glacial pace (maybe if I had over 100 IIR and IIQ it might be better) and so does the desire to keep grinding. Chris talks a good game about item progression not being where they want it but then patch after patch, nothing changes. At this point it's put up or shut time for GGG and either give us better high level loot drops with the 1.10 patch or come clean and say that you don't have any intension of improving item progression.

Spoiler

Chris also stated in a 12-30-2013 interview (Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y-QFqRHoPM) that keeping drop rates low will keep the quantity of items low so the RMT market prices will be high to minimize "pay to win". While his statement is true it also means that legit players are not getting the desired orb and gear drop rate for time played and thus the desire to play and appeal of PoE is significantly tarnished. Players who do not and will never cheat are being punished for the few who try to shortcut the time factor and use RMT to get to high levels faster. A lot of GGGs limited human resources are being used up playing "whack a mole" to stop the RMT sites from selling orbs and gear.

Hey Chris, I'd gladly pay $20 US to play PoE (I bought the 4 player pack of TL2 for $60 US in 2012) if it means the RMT market will dry up and the your limited human resources can be better used to have better item progression or a better crafting system sooner. You should seriously rethink your "free to play" position on PoE.

"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

Have you tried farming Merveil in merciless? She drops a million uniques with some rarity.

with 0 mf id say u get a unique to drop every 4 hours of non stop play

GGG doesnt want casual players to go through one playthroug without getting a unique

thats why there is so many non-powerfull and "shitty" uniques inthe game

I was going to say that I get about 1 unique each time I play. And I usually play about 3 or 4 hours at a time.

I have no complaints with that drop rate.
Problem is not the drop rate for shitty useless uniqs GGG likes to add in every patch with some nice medusa helm effects and such.

Keep up the good work GGG!

I agree that it makes total sense, that you are going to find low level uniques during your first play through and in cruel as well.

This is not about farming merciless <insert random boss> with XX IIR and XX IIQ.

Let a few uniques drop on the way through normal and cruel to get people excited every now and then.

End game farming is completely different, and this is not what this is about as far as I can tell from the OP.

Dont let increased drop rates for some low level uniques influence the chances of other stuff dropping in maps etc though.

Not sure if this is possible with the current drop mechanics.

I never found a full set of sigons in any normal run in all my years. But then again who the hell stays in normal longer than a few hours anyway ? I couldn't fathom farming normal for set gear. lol

But if folks are into low level set items then as you said it's only a matter of a day or two before you'll have a full set of just about anything low level and will not even pick up any more.
