D3 vs Poe: Which has worse itemization?

Itemization used to mean how interesting items were and how much synergy they had with builds. The OP is using the word itemization to mean drop rate...

Yup. I spend a lot of time thinking about my gear and my build and possible interactions between them in PoE. I spend about zero time thinking about such things in D3.

PoE has a less rewarding itemization, but the itemization itself is leaps and bounds ahead of D3....though I do kind of miss set items(don't hate me).
Itemization: The type and characteristic of items in the game.

Drop rate: The availability of said items.

You compare a console game with a pc game. That does not work. So this whole thread does not work.

Why you should try Harcore http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/209310/page/1

Kind of true.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
Indeed. D3 and ROS, dumbed down for console. D3 PC is the beta for the full console release.
#dealwithit.
POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!

Although very simple, D3 still WASNT developed as console game. It has full mouse support and good interface, as any PC game.

Console games, when ported to PC, usually lack proper mouse support in menus and their interface is usually really HORRIBLE! Let's take Skyrim, for example. Yes, it's a great game indeed, but its interface sucks balls! Why? Because "console".

+1, and a 3rd category is crafting

D3 itemization = crap
D3 crafting = crap
D3 drop rate = crap

PoE itemization = awesome, barring mirrors and eternal orbs which need to be removed from the game

PoE crafting = awesome early game, crap mid game, worse than crap end-game; end-game is outright gambling and time and effort put into the game means nothing

PoE drop rate = good through Cruel Act 2, crap after that. Divine and Exalted orbs don't drop enough. Items you would like to find are gated beyond content you cannot even play in, barring being rich in-game.

In the end, D3 crafting/drop rate is identical to PoE crafting/drop rate. You cannot play the game and find/create your own items. You have to grind and buy your items from someone else, which is bologna and not any fun.

Is anyone ever going to be able to replicate D2's drop system, where with enough time played you can actually progress and find most everything yourself. D2 is still installed on my PC. If I started from scratch, single-player, 30 some hours per week, in 6 to 8 weeks I'd have just about everything in the game, barring runes above Ohm and Tyrael's Might. Would I have perfect gear, for example charms like +1 skillers with 40 life, no that would require trading, but I'd have skillers with +life. Point is, with enough time and effort I'd progress and find most everything myself. Granted things would not be perfect barring luck, but at the same time I would not be prevented from finding desired items because one, I'd be able to play in areas of the game where said items actually dropped, and two, said items would eventually drop (barring runes above Ohm and Tyrael's Might).

availability of items is a huge part of the characteristics of said items because it all boils down to player experience

for example, whenever I started a new character before release I always knew that at any time an Andvarius might drop for me. And that made the early game more exciting than it is now where I know for a fact I won't be getting an Andvarius until level 71 where only a dedicated magic find character would be able to wear the ring in the first place...therefore kinda useless to get it at that point for well rounded character trying to get through content
PoE = D3 in terms of drops and itemization. Same crap, similar flaws here and there. To be honest, PoE is a bit better, but it's not that hard, having in mind what kind of rare shit is D3.

And please don't compare D2 to above mentioned, because it's a shame. In D2 you could build a mighty +90 HC char for 2-3 weeks, from scratch, having almost every unique in game and some HL runes, self found, having fun during process. All you needed was time and passion and you'd be rewarded. No artificial difficulty scaling and walls, no severe nerfs, no sinks. We had freedom there, the freedom to do whatever we want to have fun. D2 never treated you like a naughty child, crying to be punished, nor took the lollipop off your hands.

Have in mind all these problems we discuss on forum are a function of developer's politics and visions about the game, not lack of knowledge or skills. So probably nothing will change in near future.

I'm currently replaying TL2 and I'm happy as an elephant. I'd forgotten what was to have fun but not frustration, how smooth progression could be, how just playing the game, without zombie grinding the content, meant you'll get constant upgrades equal to your level.
Ask me if I'm coming back to PoE.
