D3 vs Poe: Which has worse itemization?
more chance of getting hp+dualrez will be at least an improvement.

GGG just needs to allow for more interesting magic and rare itemization solutions to the challenges the game presents. Gearing has become so rote and, worse yet, binary. Either your gear is good enough and you can continue on carefree or there is a seemingly insurmountable and rather annoying wall for which there are too few solutions provided. When you reach this wall the game reduces itself to an exercise in futility as you attempt to overcome it by bashing your head against it over and over in the hopes that not only blood but also a gift from RNGesus splatters out so you can continue on to the next wall of futility.
I suppose I just find myself asking what is the point? Where is that reward for the effort? I grind and grind only to feel less powerful as I invest into my character. I guess I've just grown a bit tired of GGG's reliance on massive spiky damage to impose artificial difficulty with the only solution being provided is the then forcibly simplistic itemization and item progression of a character which just becomes you praying to RNGesus for the tankiest gear possible. I've actually had a hell of a time finding a build I enjoy enough to take into endgame these leagues. It seems like there are fewer correct answers for only more frustrations. C'est la vie. " So much this! What they did to their series is just appalling... All they had to do was copy the old system and add some new items or a new item type. BAM! Improved game with enjoyable loot grind. I don't even know how they screwed it up so bad... |

playing d3 again last week after one year off, far better itemization than first released and feels better than poe, maybe i'm just bored seeing white item, unid yellows and getting scammed by Hargan.

" The quality of a game's itemization is fucking not about if you can find an upgrade for yourself or not. Itemization is about variety of viable items that enable different builds etc. The other thing you are talking about is RNG. There are alot of threads about RNG in poe. Especially fusing RNG needs to somehow be improved so not one guy needs 10 fusing for his 6L and the other one 10.000. But thats a different topic and not about itemization. Plz try to understand this before you make stupid threads like this.
" Strange cause I feel the exact opposite of this. D3 completely unrewarding, no use in grinding but just to get 10 more strength than you current item. Also no end game but that's another thing. I play self-found in PoE and every goddamn minute I grind I find something useful, with exceptional good drops every now and then. |

POE itemization is only marginally better. There's plenty of trash uniques and horribly RNG'd items, just like in D3, but not to the extent of D3. You technically can't compare RNG items to RNG items since that isn't itemization. Itemization is something done "smart" by the devs to ensure a piece of loot is always "good" compared to something of a lesser level/quality.
I haven't played D3 2.0 yet, and probably won't ever, but apparently they really enhanced the itemization algorithms to extend to their RNG loot to help ensure the loot that drops is always geared towards your current character. I've heard more people say the loot is better now then it was before than it being worse, so I would think D3 is now easier to find upgrades than POE; however, you will still be dealing with RNG on everything except for legendary and set items, but your RNG pool will be mostly limited to mods that can be utilized by your character in some way (ie. Wizards can't roll Strength and Barbarians can't roll Intelligence). |

" D3 Itemization didn't change with loot 2.0 and smart loot system. The fact that you find upgrades easily or that you find items with your main stat almost guaranteed on it has nothing to do with the itemization. They made a smart loot system and made the stats brackets so small as a dressing, but it changed nothing to the main problem which is that the itemization is shit. Loot 2.0 is a cheap solution to cover something that should have been rethought as a whole. IGN : @Morgoth

" Thats because its not finished, they are doing away with CC,CD,AS being the be all end all in the expansion it will be more about the mod rolls on the gear making the build. Its not perfect but at least D3 is headed in the right direction, more then I can say for this game ATM.
Path of Exile hands down.
D3 itimization sucks ass, because many other elements of the game like: *No resist cap = infinite resist stacking instead of just capping it. *Crit chance and Crit damage is good for everyone and can spawn on a lot of stuff *Main stats are most important stats and you want them on everything (besides the 2 you don't need) *Legendaries/Uniques only have gimmick effects and nothing really to build around *Your weapon dps determines any dps from your skills *attackspeed and cast speed is the same *elemental damage has almost no real meaning *there is no such thing as spell damage or any other specified damage variant Overall there isn't much thought behind D3 system. You look at the green numbers and that's it. |
