D3 vs Poe: Which has worse itemization?

D3 by a country mile.

It's worse in every single regard than PoE other than fluidness of control.

D3 is taking horrible steps backwards with making items account bound...
I hope that you do not believe account bound items are a good idea.
Those items will ruin D3 for anyone looking for more than a casual play-through.

Making items account bound is very good because it kills RMT.

PoEs biggest flaw is not desync, it's RMT.

I came to poe a year ago expecting crafting to be a way to incrementally upgrade my gear instead of relying on luck or endless trading. I was wrong, crafting in POE is just more trading and more RNG.

I do think that the "ARPG's Capitalists" are too loud and given too much credits by modern ARPGs developers. I want to bash monsters and get loots, not work a second job as a trader.

This imperative to have an "economy" just sucks out the fun out of the game except for a small elite. I have no issue with them enjoying what they like but their fun depends on many factors that can reduce everybody else enjoyment.

- League must have enough players
- Items must be scarce
- Must have gear sinks

Leagues are one of the best idea of PoE but the whole economy/competitive thing hold it back too much. Creating as many league as possible should be desirable but instead we get only a few so "ARPG's Capitalists" can prey on casuals and top players feel like they are the top 0.1% best players when in fact the remaining 99% aren't even competing.

I really don't think you're going to get much traction with that argument here. Many PoE players left D3 b/c of their BoA bullshit. A game that constantly says "No you can't do that!" will never surpass one that has a wide range of ways to play.

No it's not... People treat RMT like it's the source of all evil... How did RMT effect D2? It really didn't. D2 wouldn't have been any different at all for me without RMT. Now PoE? Maybe RMT changes the prices of some items a little? Maybe? That doesn't really effect me either. Desync though? Yeah, that bugs the heck out of me...

With RMT ladders are meaningless. There's no point in competition unless everyone play by the same rules. I can't understand why Chris Wilson (and you) won't get that, he at least can't be that dense.

PoE doesn't have wide range of ways to play. You either waste you gaming hours in trade chat, go RMT or be a big streamer and get hand outs, unless being mediocre is enough for you. To me this makes ladders (and some days even playing at all) quite pointless.
Hi

Can't wait to see Grim Dawn(GD) reach full release the itemization is wicked in it and it is still only completed act 1. If you, the player, wants to play something in the same vein as TL2,POE,D3 then look to GD(To me GD is a cross between the 3 games aforementioned). I am sure it will be quite the contender down the game developing road to these gaming giants.

I played both D3 and POE and even though D3 has beefier looking items the balance of POE makes a item comparison moot, the items are balanced to the game. Us, the players are just so used too big juicy numbers and lots of drops in these games.

If anything D3 and POE should be compared on its trade. The AH of D3 was great, it was the only thing I thought was good. I could find and place a bid on the EXACT item I want in minutes whilst in POE I look on trade chat and see a cornucopia of crap. Sure supposedly there are many possible builds in POE and one of these ''crap'' items will be glorious on that particular build but meanwhile lets face it players want a certain niche of mods on their items(ex:Life, resists, high def mods) over others thus a lot of mods are left to rot(ex:light radius incr)

If we are talking vanilla D3, then PoE wins easily.

I still think PoE is probably better than Loot 2.0... but 2.0 is a huge step in the right direction. I am actually enjoying the game now. You can make legitimate builds specializing in certain play styles now. And building around a unique item is possible now too.

Just playing on the PTR so I don't have access to the bounties gameplay, but I suspect that will be even better. Not having to skip cutscenes every 2 minutes will be nice. Blizzard had a way too high opinion of the game's story and just shoved it down players throats every chance they got. And since the game is replayed many times over, you hear the story many times over. Even the best movies get stale after seeing them enough.
In Wraeclast, if someone tries to kill you... you just kill them right back.
D3 is shit but PoE itemization is horrible
