Man, nothing sells anymore unless it's the high end uniques

So I played thru the game, solo & self found. Killed Dom in Merc.
Never had a Ex drop. Had about enough chaos to get 1.5-2 ex. I'd say up to 5 ex if I exchanged all my currency into them.

So, here's the thing. The item is a ok to nice upgrade. But doesn't have the wow factor to make me bankrupt myself. It's not suddenly going to set me up with a pile of high level maps & the ability to farm them.

The items that have had that 'wow factor' that I'd see as a huge upgrade, yet still not a top unique. People have wanted from 25 to 100+ ex.

So, the most efficient upgrade path for me, is to farm more maps, leveling my gems up to 20, trade them in for Q20's. A single Q20 gems would be a much bigger upgrade to me than your chest, and won't bankrupt me.


Moral of the story? Too much, for too little, for someone at the point where your gear is a upgrade. I'll spend my time watching for items like yours for 1/3rd or less the price while farming away for days.


(Not trying to be rude or insulting, just trying to say where I'd be coming from not buying it, even tho it's ok upgrade.)

OP's item is by no means worth more then 2 ex (likely a deal around 1 ex +15 to 20 c)

- Def is low roll,
- Res are medium
- Only life roll is good.


The cost is only due to it being a 5l and current thinking of most players seems to be that one can get a 5l in around 100 fusing anyway (one ex = 70 f). So most people would look for exceptionally good rolls and socket/ link it on their own.


Examples of somewhat good AR (not top because of low STR roll) chest is:

Only drawback being the STR roll


Chests like above one sell for around 20 chaos in dom, it makes far more sense to use the ex for buying fuses and linking them yourself.

Any 5L above 5 ex is a mistake (unless truly great rolls) imho - if someone is willing to go that far it would be better to save some more and aim for a 6l.

I agree with this.
I too think that the exagerated prices are the main reason why trading is, let's say, not the most pleasant thing.

That, of course, has something to do with the crappy drop rates of valuable orbs, but that's another issue ;)



Btw, I find it funny how the "fresh" Leagues were supposed to introduce fresh and better economy, yet people say that in the new leagues, the economy sucks even more :D

Item mods itself have their own value independent of the value of the links.

Sure, but the value of the links is dependent on the base item. 5-link on a godly base: you pay for base + the full average price to link it.

5-link on shitty base: you pay for shitty base + reduced linking price

That is right, because 5L drops aren't uncommon and fuse-expensive (mostly).

Since white 5L's go for few chaos, well, you get the big picture.

I love looking at shops where people see life+2 resists on an item and think they've hit jackpot, putting all those items for 5 ex each yet not realising how stupidly overpriced it is even after a long time of not being able to sell them, or even get any offers at all. (By the way 5L is much more easy to get now which is why it's not worth much, the mods are also generally shit, it might not even be the price that's making people not want to buy it ;) )

I can't say whether this item is worth 3ex or not, but personally I wouldn't buy a 5L for that much. Because it's a 5L.

From the perspective of an endgame player, I want a 6L as my final upgrade (barring Kaoms). When you spend multiple exalts, you are shopping for endgame pieces. A 5L is inefficient because even if I like the base stats, I will have to re-link it myself. I don't want to pay a premium for the 5L because the linkage is not that useful for me. The base stats will have to be very impressive for me to consider.

From the perspective of a not-quite-rich-yet player, any 5L will suffice as long as it has semi-respectable stats. Why pay precious exalts for a marginal increase in utility when a few gcp will do? You may as well save up the exalts for something nicer down the road.

IMO it should sell for what it is.. a levelling/intermediate piece. Maybe you should adjust the price to suit the market.
