Man, nothing sells anymore unless it's the high end uniques
" Exactly why I price my equipment so low. You might say me selling shit 5L for 5-10c and decent ones for 10-15c to be stupid low but what I say is: I have 10c in my bank to use towards my characters while you have a 5L taking up Stash space. Sure, if you wait longer you might make a bigger paycheck but I just wanna move my equips on and forget about them. If I end up helping a new player in the process all the better. Maybe they'll learn from my shop and not overprice everything to stupidly high prices. IGN: Caessa_Undying - 4 FPS Immersive Rain 4 Lyfe! If advertising a product fails after sufficient effort, and no alternative exists, then only one option remains.
The price is too high. You can claim the item is undervalued all you want. The fact is the demographic you are targeting cannot afford what you're asking. Either drop the price, or hold.(This is what it feels like to be a homeowner) Edit: Also it isn't just softcore inflation either, but rather softcore demand. A hardcore player needs res, needs life, etc. He is forced to trade up before progression. Forced to participate. Standard/Dom players don't. They can take a few deaths, limp through progression. They're not forced into the market as badly. Last edited by jackl101#1904 on Dec 31, 2013, 6:59:32 PM

"I do the same thing besides I always have way more things to sell then there are buyers or that I have time to deal with.I myself dont think any 5L in standard should be worth all that much.Seems most people just want a 5L to get by till they get a 6L.And there are ALOT of 5L amazing to poor in standard. |

It is only going to get worse on standard. That said, when I sell things, I basically undersell everything and they sell like hot cakes.
If an item is "worth" 10 chaos but sitting in my inventory because no one buys it. It doesn't really do me any good, no matter how much it might be "worth". If I sell that same item for 5 chaos, and sell more of them, it works out better for me in the long run. "Danger is like jello, there's always room for more."

" There is an easy method that removes 99% of all trades with flippers: do background check. I.e. add the target to friendlist, then check their forum name, then check theif rofum profile, then check their characters and post history. If it seems like a legit rather new player (i.e. all character below lv70 or all below lv80 with no massive exalted trade history), then sell it a bit cheaper without feeling you just sold it to a flipper :D. I have learned that you have to sell for what you get offered and not for what you want.
I farm dominus alot, and get very nice rares quite often. some examples:

Im quite positive that stuff with those stats should be worth way more than just a couple of chaos, but if i want to get rid of them thats what ill have to sell them for. @HabiaUnaVez_Truz or leave a PM if im offline

" Another thing, that stack of 10c takes up less space than a 5L armor. For someone that does a lot of trading, inventory space is king, and currency is far more compact and liquid than gear. Unless you're a person that showers GGG with money and has 100+ stash tabs to have every item, ever. |

Truth right here. The market is what people will pay, not what you are asking. It's like the collectible car market. Someone sees a Challenger go for 250k at barrett jackson, therfore his must be worth the same. However his car wasn't owned by some Mopar old blood or racing driver. Therefore his assumption is false. Look at the people making the big bucks. either a streamer or someone of somewhat notoriety. Part of it is "I bought x from y player" as much as it is the stats. I move items, and I don't waste time worrying if someone flipped it later. |^^^^^^^^^^^\||____

1. This game is hemorrhaging players, and has nowhere near the amount of people playing as it did 2 months ago. I just dropped some items I am selling in Trade Chat 1 on Nemesis and my post was still on the page after 5 minutes. My friends list has read 0 for at least 3 weeks. Dead as shit.
2. It's Standard. Think of it like a septic tank, where all of the piss and shit of PoE gets flushed into. It's bogged down with the leftovers of dead leagues, dead HC chars, Legacy items, and a year of turds being flushed into it. Nothing against anyone who plays Standard, because I actually played Standard up until Nemesis was introduced. But understand that Standard is a complete mess, and like a septic tank, it needs to be cleaned out so that the piss and shit don't overflow and turn your property into a toxic wasteland. | |

People get too hung up on the theoretical worth of items, and they would rather not sell them at all than to sell them cheaply. The average player who doesn't spend a lot of time trading and flipping items simply doesn't have a large pool of currency, so when they do have to "save up", they go for the higher end stuff, because they can't afford upgrades frequently. It's like with a lot of stuff: buying cheap often means buying thrice.
Contrary to popular parroting, you can also easily enough get through the 70s and into the 80s with just the stuff you find. Perhaps not at a blazing speed, and not in a handful of hours, but the dependency on mid-range gear through trading isn't all that pressing. So what's the motivation to buy items like the linked chest? Sure, it's neat. But 3-5 EX? It may be theoretically worth that, but practically I'd not hand over that much unless I had a strong motivation (as people do when a league is new and ranks are still obtainable). |
