Man, nothing sells anymore unless it's the high end uniques

Sadly, after that, you are either trying to get one that is almost in the realm of mirror-worthy, and pretty much the typical 6L good chest piece which is pretty much 20+ ex. Though, I do understand where you are coming from.

I can't let that armor go for 1 ex. A flipper comes up, buys it for 1 ex and manages to sell it for 2-3 ex.

Sniff sniff...

Doesn't matter.

Watch the game market. It's stagnating.

You can't let an item go for less than 1ex, because YOU need more than 1ex to sustain your in-game habits.

I don't even have ONE ex to do anything with.

I am the newer player you are all trying to sell to, and that fact is adamant. I do not have the currency to afford asking prices. I don't even bother to trade because of.

Eventually, your in-game habits will become unsustainable, like it or not, and your prices will come down, like it or not. This is market deflation. It's happening.

Like, how many exalted did the OP want for a 20% gem? lol. Sure bud. Sure. Best I got is 20c. That's all my currency in my bank, and I wouldn't even pay that, cause it's all I got.
I can't sell anything on characters that aren't on ladder. I'm guessing that has far more to do with it than anything else

I've seen better chests (30/40 double res and 80+ hp with 1000 armor) go for 1-2 exalt in domination. The price for these things keeps decreasing. You'd expect them to be cheap as hell in Standard.

Exalts are worth more in dominatin

I say the armor is worth about 3-5 ex.

Not worth 4 exa.

Reason: With 4 exa you can buy and host lotteries to get 5-link that is far better:

1. Buy better base than his for 1 exa (easily done).
2. Host 6 socket lottery for 1 exa.
3. Host 5-link lottery for 2 exa
=> total cost of 4 exa.

His armor is worth less than 3 exa.

I also have an elemental damage L19/Q20. I tried 2 ex, obo... nothing

That's because the competition offers to sell their 20/20 for 2 exa. Why would any buyer buy from you? lol

Common sense people, common sense!

I would never go that route. I am not that desperate.

This pretty much. I'm a newer player as well, and I'd love to buy that chest piece, but 3 ex is way out of my league. I only have about 15 chaos. I take a look at a lot of the prices and then dismiss the idea of trading for anything and see what I can do on my own.

To sort of reinforce what gr00grams is saying, the OP thinks his target are the rich people with tons of ex. 5L rare, good stats. But the rich people HAVE good 5L rares and they're wanting to upgrade to 6L's. The real target are the lowbies like myself and gr00, where we have 4L's and want to upgrade to a 5L. They reason why we don't have a 5L? Because we can't afford to pay however many exalts people are asking for a decent 5L rare.

My plan to get a nice 5L rare is to buy a blank or complete crap 5L for 1-5 choas, and throw the rest hoping for something useable. And to me, useable is something with life and either fire or cold resist. Hell, a blue with life and either of those resits would work just fine.
The fact that you are upset that if you sold it for an ex, arguably one ex you didn't have before, and someone could flip it?!

That is the real problem. I'm always trying to sell things, I usually offer at reasonably to market or below. I make money. Realistically if you want to move product, make it enticing to do so. Selling below market, for a game I have fun playing is fine with me. I keep getting what I want and people get to find a deal.
