Poor customer service, bad business
" This is Canada and it can go as far as this. I Bought Doom 3 DFG last october on Steam with updated graphic engine knowing my computer should handle it. But wow how I was wrong. Check with the customer service, nothing to do. I understand then go buy the Old Doom pack. Few days later, everyone on the Steam forums were telling everyone to go check the Graphic cards retailer website to upgrade the drivers. Drivers updated especially for Doom 3 BFG new engine. Then I went to the customer support and they credited the whole package on my steam Wallet. They NEVER refund purchases on Steam for Owner Rights and Violation. But in my case it was obvious that I wasnt an exploiters so they agreed. This is showing what is a good customer service. Last edited by PureLaine#3024 on Jan 24, 2013, 11:20:02 AM

" Haha, I've bought Skyrim for 50 when the next day it was -33% too, but hey, totally worth it so I don't care... I also got Sleeping Dogs including all DLCs for 5 bucks during a presumably bugged sale (-93%), So I can't complain. ;) Steam never officially stated it was bugged though, but it was only for a few minutes so I can only assume it was a mistake, maybe one of the new guys messed up haha. Carry on my waypoint son, there'll be peace when maps are done.
Lay your portal gem to rest, don't you die no more. 'Cause it's a bitter sweet symphony this league. Try to make maps meet, you're a slave to the meta, then you leave. |

They can make deals when they want.
Are you gonna ask refund each time they but stuff on sale that you already bought a week ago? |

+1 OP. Not the best wording, but the idea seems ok. I don't like buying a thing for $249 just to see it being sold for $149 the next week (don't want to mention the particual retailer). Just like OP said: it's not about the price, it's about the principle.
I know that OP is not going to get a refund, but GGG could think of some extras for those who already supported the game with money. |

I have to agree with everyone who says your example is not poor customer service. I don't understand the Canadian practice at all, it sounds like the buyer doesn't take responsibility of their purchase. But even if you didn't realise other countries have other business practices, the shop page clearly states that nothing in the store is refundable, and therefore the buyer should know what they get into.

Very little respect I see here for our fellow players. Disagreement doesn't have to come with name-calling and vitriol. You think calling someone stupid reflects poorly on THEM. It actually reflects poorly ON YOU.
All of you who have partaken in it are wrong in all your countries for doing so. It's called human decency. There's no need to call names while we debate whether GGGs shop policies should improve. If nothing else, that's pretty much the principle in question: should they improve their customer service on such trivial things as a stash tab? If you can't talk about that without name-calling, you don't deserve to be able to post on the forum. To all of you screaming about your countries consumer policies ....I'm willing to bet some of you are from America. Most department stores (yes, the trillionaires who can certainly afford to lose a few hundred customers) offer time windows for returning things that go on sale. For example, 14-day refunds if the item goes on sale within 14 days of your purchase, or 30 or 60 days. See Macys, Carson's, Sears, and all those other major stores swimming in cash and customers. They will refund you the difference if an item goes on sale within that given time frame if you bought it. This is called not being difficult about something trivial. That customer will spend 100x's more money in your store if you just give them a refund on something they don't like. This is how they get such great customer loyalty. because the refund pays for itself and 1000s of other customer transactions. 1 refund. This is a highly effective business practice. All you psuedo-businessmen claiming how stupid this is ...the trillionaires beg to differ. This isn't uncommon in ANY country. Perhaps it is in the neighborhoods in which you shop, but not in the world. Different strokes, different folks. Smart businessmen make their money on these exact kinds of policies, not on sticking it to the customer. And this is STILL not grounds for name-calling, even if you disagree with the practice. Moderators, where are you? This is the kind of crap which will relegate PoE to the dark cesspools of the gaming community. To irrelevance. Sheer human indecency being tolerated. You diamond and gold and other super supporters ought to be ashamed: you're a big face in this community and you're showing all the guests what a shitty community this is. You're shiny forum titles could be used to show how awesome this community is. Instead you're going to be the reason the game gets bad reviews. Mods? This pettiness and incivility should be unwelcome. " " And thank you Kildram (and the rest of you) for your civil posts. " EDIT to add some links to all of you claiming how stupid a practice this is while trillionaires use it to make trillions: http://www.jcrew.com/help/returns_exchanges.jsp http://www.sears.com/cspricematch/nb-100000000022522 https://customerservice.macys.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/266/related/1 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Payment-Pricing/Best-Buy-Price-Match-Guarantee/pcmcat204400050011.c?id=pcmcat204400050011 https://corporate.target.com/about/shopping-experience/our-low-price-promise?ref=sr_shorturl_pricematch&ref=sr_shorturl_pricematch#q4070 Note these companies are often part of conglomerates which have uniform policies across all their stores. That means a store like Walmart might be called Tescos in the UK, but they are the same company and more often than not have the same general policies. -- Tuune Last edited by Tuune#0735 on Jan 24, 2013, 11:48:26 AM

" I like how you ignored the rest of my post. There is a LARGE DIFFERENCE when it comes to online purchases and purchases made in real life. You are VERY lucky that you got a return as Steam is notoriously uncaring when it comes to accidentally buying games that your rig can't run or WON'T run. However, the fact that you managed to get a game returned because your rig couldn't run it is a DIFFERENT matter than buying something and then a sale goes up and you EXPECT TO BE PAID THE DIFFERENCE BECAUSE YOU ASKED NICELY. However, this is about a VERY SMALL amount of money which you had ALREADY invested. You didn't buy the POINTS, you bought a support pack. So I can see why they wouldn't want to meddle with that. |

I'm from Canada too, and to be honest while it's "great" to be able to go back to the store and ask for your money when you bought something that is now on sale, I don't see why this should be applied here on Microtransactions.
You bought something while in Closed Beta, used it and, I guess, loved having those while playing in Closed. Then the game goes in Open Beta and they offer a 5+1 bank slot for the same price. Seems like you just want the best of both worlds... If they were to give you that extra bank slot, and next week they do a 5+2 sale, would you ask for another extra slot again? You bought Gold to SUPPORT the company, and now you're whining about less than 5 bucks... Unbelievable. |

Oh, and about your comparison to your Steam purchase...
Steam obviously SAW that you did not play the game, therefore refunding it was easier, since you did not USE it then ask for a refund. The case here, however, is very different. You USED those bank slots while playing in CB, and then you ask for a refund to buy the package. (See it the way you want, a refund to buy a 6 bank slot package, or a free 1 bank slot, it's the same). Think about it for a minute instead of raging against GGG. |

So yesterday I went to Dairy Queen and bought myself a double cheese burger for 3 bucks. Today they have them on sale 2 for $3....
I'm outraged and I demanded they give me another burger! Rally around me people who's with me!? On a serious note sales happen all the time. Welcome to the real world OP sometimes I see a sale possibly coming and I hold out to buy in at a sale price I think is coming. Sometimes I buy in even when I know a sale is coming because I just want it now and can't control myself (rare but does happen to everyone from time to time). You bought in and had tabs in closed beta you got to use them etc. On top of the fact it's a whole 4 dollars... Phenom 2 955 Quad Oc'ed 4.2 Ghz - Biostar A780L3G 760G
