Why is GGG caving in to casuals' demands?

Discuss? Yeah, I'll discuss how stupid your post is OP. NOTHING has been made easier, and your nonsense about "casuals" is ignorant and myopic.

nah PoE is VERY casual friendly and easy.

1. Go to the RMT sites some of you are running, buy orbs.
2. Buy gear.
3. Win Game.

Casual's dream.

That's really one of the most dumbest things I've read on these forums. "PoE is for casuals because of third party websites that have nothing to do with GGG and by the way I accuse some of you to actually run those sites with no proof at all".
IGN : @Morgoth
It was facetious.

And do you honestly think that if it was in someone's economic self-interest to effect the development of the game, they wouldn't be here lobbying for changes that benefit them? That was actually the only serious part of the post.

And then dying in lvl 70+ maps, no thanks.
I don't want to gimp my chars on purpose, the endgame requires a decent amount of damage and safety (life or ES) and ES gear is so fucking expensive + you need VP+GR .... so most people go for life.

it's not really ABOUT being easier...sure, it makes it a tiny bit easier, but the real issue is that loot names take up the entire screen (especially in maps with an MFer), and if the loot is on FFA or SA, you have to keep them on all the time. In hardcore maps, it's good to be able to see your surroundings and the monsters instead of blindly firing while not being able to see anything because your screen is filled with text. I imagine the only people who really prefer having the text cover their screens are totem users and summoners, since they just stand there and collect loot in any case.

edit: it appears none of your characters are higher than 67, perhaps you haven't yet experienced piles of MF loot in maps

I have had many high level HC's RIP, several 80+ in close beta as well as deleting them to reuse names after seasons end too, thanks for the consideration.

Your point stands though, maps do get messy, but removing loot tension (something the devs made many statements about saying it was “very important” – and I agreed with them) from the entire game to solve an unrelated issue like clutter was never the motivation or even part of the reasoning.

So, I don’t want to argue with anyone here, it’s over! You got the game your way and it’s never going back. Now PoE plays much more like D3 now then D2. I do not need to pay nearly as much attention to what’s going on, I don’t need to worry about running with friends or trusting anyone. I don’t need to position myself in the middle of danger before they die to make sure I get my loot, I can just stand back and keep clicking…

Again, if "options" where supposed to be some kind of compromise, they failed miserably, there is no balance and it was blindingly obvious PA would be the only setting used. GGG would have been much better off just doing exactly what D3 did with loot, and HIDE drops that others got and solve the clutter issue as well.

Thanks, Charan. Sending me off to work with a smile :)

I'm casual and have been for a long time. Guess what, I also pay the bills and play nemesis league.

I also have two small kids and a career.

Poe has plenty to be challenging but you don't define what that is. Nor do you define what "casual" is and you do not explain what it is you think will make the game better or harder.

As an older gamer, I've been doing this a while (30 years) and I have noticed a distinct change in the way people interact and deal with games. Especially younger players.

1. They don't see games as entertainment. (Seems to me there is some sort of attitude that being good at a video game is like being some sort of star athlete. I assure you, it's not)

2. Many I've played with, younger guys, don't handle losing very well. I've seen people quit the game simply because they died too early in a race or lost their hardcore character.

3. Theorycrafters. All too often I'll be told that I have to do a build a certain way or it's shit. I dunno, if it's enjoyable to play, is it shit?

4. Hardcorelitist. Now I play hardcore, because I do enjoy the challenge and sense of loss when I lose a character to softcore. I get it. What I don't get is the attitude that if someone doesn't have 16 hours a day to play, they are a "baddie". No, I would argue they are just "employed".

So comes the fine line between satisfying these archetypes or everyone else. Me, I enjoy the game. I have at least 1000 hours playing which is saying a lot for me, that's roughly 1/8th of my time.

So my tips for making the game more enjoyable start with you, not the game. Try not building the super min-max builds but rather something interesting and difficult to level.

Try building something that does not do 24k dps or 8k life.

^ Exactly This.

And if I may be so bold, you sound like you'd fit right in over here.

"Game is easier"

1. Doesn't even have a character that has reached end game yet.

2. Claims loot (lets not even mention the fact that loot allocations is optional) has something to do with difficulty.
