What makes you "hardcore" players so high and mighty that you think this game should be balanced towards you in the first place?
Idk... maybe because the devs wanted their game to be like that ?
Well if GGG want to really get hardcore, they could disable trading, disable parties, disable gambling/recipies and have complete stash and character loss on death.
But I'm guessing that may be too hardcore for most of the hardcore player base.
TheAnuhart expresses it so much better than myself.I'm just a fart in the wind at this stuff. lol
Isnt there skill in trading? How come is always the same rich people in new leagues making wealth?

Considered this to be a flame bait topic.
I remember the game being harder but experienced players shouldn't even find challenge out of Normal/Cruel difficulty, not matter how turned-up Act 3x is. Also GGG prefers more viable builds, contrary to what people might think, so if you make a beast build that stomps maps, more power to you.

Yes, Burmeister, hardcore gaming is all about shopping skills.
Casually casual.

Why is GGG caving in to please the flimsy casuals who we all know will abandon this game the instant their instant-gratification meter is full? I hope the answer isn't that they are stupid, because I'm quite sure they aren't. Is it the money?
Discuss.
This is nothing but stereotypical BS.
I was the biggest proponent of looting options and guess what? I am still here.

it's not really ABOUT being easier...sure, it makes it a tiny bit easier, but the real issue is that loot names take up the entire screen (especially in maps with an MFer), and if the loot is on FFA or SA, you have to keep them on all the time. In hardcore maps, it's good to be able to see your surroundings and the monsters instead of blindly firing while not being able to see anything because your screen is filled with text. I imagine the only people who really prefer having the text cover their screens are totem users and summoners, since they just stand there and collect loot in any case.
edit: it appears none of your characters are higher than 67, perhaps you haven't yet experienced piles of MF loot in maps
I have had many high level HC's RIP, several 80+ in close beta as well as deleting them to reuse names after seasons end too, thanks for the consideration.
Your point stands though, maps do get messy, but removing loot tension (something the devs made many statements about saying it was “very important” – and I agreed with them) from the entire game to solve an unrelated issue like clutter was never the motivation or even part of the reasoning.
So, I don’t want to argue with anyone here, it’s over! You got the game your way and it’s never going back. Now PoE plays much more like D3 now then D2. I do not need to pay nearly as much attention to what’s going on, I don’t need to worry about running with friends or trusting anyone. I don’t need to position myself in the middle of danger before they die to make sure I get my loot, I can just stand back and keep clicking…
Again, if "options" where supposed to be some kind of compromise, they failed miserably, there is no balance and it was blindingly obvious PA would be the only setting used. GGG would have been much better off just doing exactly what D3 did with loot, and HIDE drops that others got and solve the clutter issue as well.
With the screen no longer cluttered with text, you now CAN pay attention to what's going on, when previously you could not. Unless you meant paying attention to what drops, and if that's the only thing you're paying attention to in combat, you must be a totemer or summoner as I mentioned.
Also, what is bad about an online game making public parties more accessible? I don't know what you think the main motivations were for introducing loot options, but to me it seems clear they were 1. to reduce clutter and 2. to end the fact that melee had a distinct advantage in FFA looting

Yes good trading needs good trading skills (or luck).
But that skills have nothing to do with hack 'n slay gameplay. Most people want to play the game and not play the trade-game.
Of course you have better chances to get lucky if you trade 3 hours instead of 3 hours of playing.
That's the reason it's called Path of Trading - everybody farms for currency to TRADE. It's the same as farming gold for the AH in Diablo 3.

lol at this thread.
"hardcore gamer" is exactly synonymous with "12+ hours a day pimply basement-dwelling no-lifer". I would be embarrassed to wear that moniker as a badge of pride...
"hardcore game" is sort of a meaningless phrase, meant to encourage hardcore gamers (see above) to play it.
"hardcore mode" is just another way to increase the excitement/emotion level while playing.
Really, all you guys can put your epeens away and quit waving them about on the forums. You're not impressing anyone with your "hardcore gamer" schtick. Quite frankly, it's embarrassing to watch.
