Full Respec......

The actual system is good.
you Just need regret orb.
The problem with having a full respec discussion in the forums is that it's generally the hardcore (vs casual) players that hang out in the forums. And of course most hardcore players will advocate for no respecs.

IMO, the issue with no respecs is that it forces you to look online for cookie-cutter builds that are known to work because you don't want to waste a ton of your time playing a build that might not be viable later on.

That being said, maybe it's best for PoE to just focus on the hardcore players instead of trying to be all things to all players.

POE is a hardcore ARPG. There is pleanty of casual ARPG even babies can figure out and play so yea if you want just to smash buttons and don't worry about anything then POE is not for you. However if you want to learn get a challenge and force to use you little brain then POE is the game for you
There is already full respec in the game,it costs 1 orb of regret but scales with Your level.

I have no sympathy for people who want full respecs because their build levels poorly in the beginning and only becomes awesome later on.
That is part of designing a build. A build that works amazing in the late game but can't ever get there because leveling it is impossible, is not an effective build. You need to take that into consideration.
By just allowing anyone to full respec into whatever they want, it sorta cheapens the whole process of designing a build. You can just make something that cruises through the game, then full respec into another build for end game. I think that is silly.
Of course, the game has items that allow you to respec points, and they add up pretty fast. I think the current system is fine.

I think it would be better for the game not to have it right away, but what do you think above down the road?
Full respecs should never be introduced. It took 10years to allow respecs in diablo2 and it still made me furious.

If you put on your full plate mail, and I throw hundreds of toothpicks at you, you'll basically not feel it.

If someone catapults a whole tree at you, don't expect the Armour to prevent as much of the damage.
Please, please, please, please, NEVER INTRODUCE RESPECS. Oh my god. I suspect I can trust GGG not to cave in and actually implement it... but just in case there's any doubt. Please, GGG. Please. Please. Don't do it. It would take so much away from the game.

In the Q&A with kripp Chris said that he would rather stick with the current system and believes there are enough points given to change specs. He also said he would liek players to carfully allocate their points and be knoledgable going into the creation so that these would not be available.

While I agree with this, there is a couple cases where a full respec might be appropriate. For example: Once OB starts there is going to be a wipe. Everyone is not going to have a shared stash right? So obviously some specs are more efficient to level with than others. Lets say that you want to have a spec later in the game which enables you to farm better, but leveling with that spec is ridiculously inefficient compared to a different spec. In this case you would have to save or trade for great gear with varying levels to equip a NEW character that you have to RELEVEL going along that spec since it requires a great deal of point reallocation?

Maybe this is your intent, of that I am not sure but would it not be prudent to have the option for each character that is created to be awarded say like 1 full respec per difficulty cleared? or 1 full respec all difficulties are cleared? that way at least an end game change is available if the player wants it. Rather than having to relevel a character for the sake of farming/pvp etc. In theory you would level 2 characters to get the 1 desired result becuase not all end-game specs are easy to level with.

Am I completely off by asking this?

How about if you want to play that amazing end game spec you suck it up and level the path even though it's not the most efficient? Levelling is not that hard and grouping takes out some of the deficiencies you'll have.

Alternatively farm it up and buy regrets off people. Not like the option to respec your points DOESN'T exist anyway.

+1 for never allowing full respecs.
