So What Is The Point Of Path Of Exile?
" I agree with you that in order to become a true community, people need more in common than hatred or resentment (and they do have that: the love for the genre), but I think a lot of the negativity toward Blizzard and D3 is just a result of disappointment. I had waited over a decade for a sequel to D2, and when D3 came out, my expectations (which were probably unrealistic) crashed and I was frustrated that in spite of my attempts to like the game, I just couldn't get into it. Another issue is Blizzard's attitude. When D3 was released and people were disappointed, the PR and community people of Blizzard brushed those concerns away -- in a way that was nothing short of rude. Bashiok was pretty much a jerk, and while I understand that community work can make you pretty misanthropic at times (I've done it for two decades), his attitude was like fuel on fire. When people reacted, he deleted posts, making players feel angry and helpless. What reaction can such an approach possibly have? Now there is a better game, from a company that actually cares and has better community management, and so people vent their still lingering frustration. Blizzard gets away with stuff because there was little competition. It is true for WoW, too, and was for D3. If you wanted to play an ARPG with persistent online servers, you played D3 or you played nothing. So now we have an alternative and I understand why people find great relief in verbally giving Blizzard the finger. It'll pass once the irritation has been vented for a while. | |

" HOnestly I find more fun in theory crafting and rerolling. To each his own I guess, but imo doing nothing but following build guides is just a waste in PoE. "You can't bash someone else's shitty taste in music when you listen to 'grindcore'" -TheWretch̢

Even bad builds can easily farm endgame non-map areas, so theres no real reason to delete and restart a first character.
It also generally doesnt take *that* many regret orbs to fully respec either. Its not like you need to wipe every single passive, generally half of them are pathway nodes that will still be there, you might still keep some of the other ones, can normally radically change a build with about 30-40 respec points. So long as you have passives vaguely in the general area of the enw new build yoru fine. |

Not sure what kind of game you are expecting. The point of this game is character builds. Never meant for one build to play endlessly.
I have made eight characters and played through until merciless with all but two. It's fun to me and I enjoy finding gear and currency. Don't listen to anyone about your build but be prepared to remake and replay. "Man, it's like we're fighting housewives and their equipment." - Millennium

OMG Why am I here? What is this all about? Who is this "LAN" guy and why is he starting so many parties? Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

Kill stuff to get better at killing stuff. I play HC, so eventually I'll get killed and have to start over.

" Believe it or not, some people have lives and can't spend every minute of every day perfecting their PoE skills. I've been playing this game since CB and it took me until last night to finish normal with a Scion I started on release day. Yes, if I'd sat down and played non-stop until the end of normal I would have done it in far less game hours. When you can only play a small amount at a time, it takes a lot longer to get through the content. Especially if you've just started and are trying to experience everything. |
