So What Is The Point Of Path Of Exile?

In my opinion, the point of PoE is to create strong characters so that you can farm wealth as fast as possible. The quests/zones/areas are completely secondary and more of a "background".

The meat of the game is your character. It is a representation of the time, effort, and skill that you put in to create it.

I agree

Fail to see how I was trolling?, perhaps you could enlighten me.
You shouldnt need to buy gear to progress through cruel. I've always self found up until getting ready for maps. (on HC btw) Which leads me to my point, the goal of PoE can be many different things. Some like to try lots of new build ideas, some like to progress one char, some like to race, some like the trading aspects and some like self-found route. Find your niche. If you just started at release than you haven't even experienced the racing thing yet, which is awesome btw.

But start a new character?, repeat everything I had just done from level 1? the same exact quests and areas?.

Yes that is the point, I know many people don't want it to be true but it is the whole point of this game - this isn't a mmo where you just play one char forever.
Nothing to see here.
the area layouts are randomized so no not the exact same areas

I play PoE because to me it's fun - this Genre and this game especially have some Mechanics that just aren't for everyone.

I recommend you at least try a couple more characters, different builds - but even if you get bored, you did get some solid play-time out of the game.

Good luck.

I appreciate the comments and Like I say I did not mean it to sound like I was bashing the game.

I did enjoy my time through normal, I dont normally play these type of dungeon crawlers (if thats what you class it as).

And I would say I probably just need more time to learn the game and the builds etc.

Does anyone know any good sites or guides for builds and understanding elements of the game?

Thanks

There's a LOT of info on the wiki. It won't tell you what to use together, but it will tell you how the mechanics interact, which is the first step.

if you need anyone to tell you what the "point" of it is, may not be the game for you, just sayin'
Don't forget to drink your milk 👌
It's not rude to suggest that a game you don't enjoy might not be the best use of your time.

That being said, perhaps you've gotten your enjoyment out of PoE already by clearing the content on the easiest difficulty with only one build, which isn't unheard of by any means.

That being said, the game still offers 2 much tougher difficulties and a plethora of build options to beat them with, should you feel inclined to give it a try.

That being said, I would take the community suggestions of rerolling with a grain of salt, especially if that doesn't sound fun to you.

That being said, trying out fresh builds with the loot found on previously attempted builds is the primary way many of us enjoy the game.

That being said, that which has been said had been said to have been said.
