Character names clashing

It makes sense, but if you have ever had an ex girlfriend, you know the rekindled lust can come many years down the road.

worst idea ever im terrified how you can suggest it.
... or people could use their imagination and come up with unique names instead of everyone being called Batman.
Unique names are a good thing. You become known and will be recognized when you meet others.
And I get really mad when I see a million Barbarians named "Conan" or even worse "Barbar". Or those people that name their bear-pet "Beard"... you know "BEARd", because it is a bear...

I can see why people would get mad they remake names that have already been used (cuz doesnt everybody want to name their character Slashtastic? Oh wait thats my guys name)

But seriously just think for more than 5 seconds and come up with a good name. Unique names are so badass.
"Beta"
Unique character names are the way to go imo.

If you can't come up with anything original and interesting than xxxwitchxxx you should probably consider taking some creativity classes or something.

There's a billion and one clever/interesting/unusual/funny names out there just waiting to be thought up.

This is not a valid reason for anyone to be getting butthurt & frustrated over.
Blasphemous HC-SSF Path of Exile 2 enjoyer.
I think uninque names in PoE will be a big problem, brought it up in another thread.
PoE is a game that encouraging rerolling and if the game becomes popular the number of reserved names will be very large to say the least.

So lets say that over the next 2 years 250k players will have downloaded and tried the game. And lets say 3 characters per player on average, a very low estimation imo considering many players have a large number of toons bringing the average up by alot.

Since there are no separate regions or realms we are looking at 750k reserved names in my example( wouldn't surprise me if the real number will become closer to one million after a couple of years). That is just to large a number. It is already abit annoying when creating characters. Basically every kid that ever wanted to name his toon after his favorite fantasy book series character or whatever will be out of luck.

D3:s naming system is something that should be implemented imo. In D3 an invisible numbertag is added behind each name. This tag is only seen when you for example whisper or want to add someone to your friendlist. Otherwise you can't see it, so it doesn't make any cosmetic difference. This naming system allows you to choose whatever name you want for your character. You can even name all your character "Bob", the same name, if you want.

Would have really prefered this system.
