Chris confirms to go through mid: Scion or bust
It's ridiculous to speculate until we see the tree. If they are moving keystones, than we are completely blind as to how the changes to the middle affect any other classes. All we can say for sure is that our builds will all be changing, probably drastically, and that it's best to detach ourselves from them and wait until we see the tree. Your build isn't special, every build is going to change. If you're attached so strongly to your current build, then enjoy it for 13 more days. But at this pointlessly you should be doing is bracing for change and getting excited about new possibilities. In short, grow up, stop franking out about things which you have no information on, play the game, and have fun.

" you CAN get there via duelist but the price you pay for that is astronomical. most nodes you take on your way are +10 nodes. you miss on survivability and damage at the same time. missing projectile-evade is only one notable 'not there' elements with CI.. i;m happy as long as CI has to spend at least as much nodes to get to current level as life has to. removing easy armor with IR+Grace would force CI users to actualy spec into armor, same with VP. current GR+VP is a braindead solution without any drawback. if keystones stay the same at least make this combo crazy expensive what id miss is necromancer. necro aegis placement makes this endangered class (unless played as a witch) my templar necro - no matter how crazy it looks - works. after that change it will probably will be not possible: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgUAAnEEswVbEQ8R2xRNFLAVUBZvGYUaOBpsJKoo-iqYM3Y26TlSOjA62DrhPAVBh0NjRnFI5025TdhN405tVcZYB1ivWPVakWaeaqxs9nC7cU14DXq4gW-Cx4LkgziFYIhAiPGLjIx2j0aQM5BVkyeVIJrPm6Gdrp3Enjyf36IAplemrKcIp4SofaluqsSsWayYrpOwd7QMtfK3MbiTvDe_l8AayT3MvM9l0NDT-9kL2t3jauvu7DjvfPAf8h722vfX-oD60v6P |

The thing that I really dislike about all of this is that it kind of contradictory to what I first heard about this game long ago. It was something to the effect of "Would you like to play a witch that swings a big ax? Or how about a spell casting warrior? No? Then how about a bow wielding Templar?" That is not exact but it more than gets my point across. This game is about wide build diversity no matter which starting area you choose.
Now perhaps it will be still as we've not seen the final version. However if this isn't the case then I'm sorely disappointed in GGG as they seem to either be caving or going back on their word. If either is the case then they will have become like every other developer... Can't do what they say. As my grandpa always told me, "Watch what the hell you say BUT do what you say". |

Some builds will get stronger, others will get weaker or move to scion. Change is change.
Personally I think it's a great change because while build freedom is good, it hurts class identity. Currently there are a lot of builds that are virtually identical on two or more classes, personally I don't like that. |

" For the most part my builds are semi-circle/half-tree builds. For example, start as Duelist, go left to Marauder and Templar areas, or go right to Ranger and Shadow areas, or go both left and right to Marauder and Ranger areas -- all semi-circle/half-tree builds. However, I have done Duelists where I went up through the middle into the Templar/Witch, Templar/Shadow, or Witch/Shadow areas, something it seems I will no longer be able to do in 1.0, barring rolling a Scion. Yes, I play mostly melee. I like the challenge. Last edited by Galtrovan#5344 on Oct 10, 2013, 1:58:49 PM

" There will certainly be some builds which will have a hard time, but i would guess it won't be as many as some people think (or at least many builds will be "salvageable" in the new tree with some adjustments and some changes). Your necro Templar seems interesting and here i can only say - lets wait and see where the keystones will be in the new tree, maybe he'll be possible? About the ranger: i made the passive build really quikly (i actualy spend two points to many thanks to two misclikcs i didn't notice), so here is a somhow improved version: link, which does have the projectile evasion (i agree that it is needed for ranged eva chars, since non projectile attacks shouldn't hit you if possible :D), it gets 192% increased life, which should IMHO be enough for a ranged char adn eva is increased quite nicely (130% increase), it didn't get Acro though, so that is a minus for that idea. About the damage - i think it should still be enough (that is only my opinion though)... Proud 5th duelist in the Jul 1 2012 Ladder Race and in the Nov 3 2012 Solo Turbo Race :D
And even prouder 4th Templar in the Nov 10 Four-hour Party Hardcore Race :P Current OB success: top 20 Ranger in 105 Minute Turbo Solo (S4E9) |

I never thought this game was supposed to be about "class identity."
It was certainly never something that I personally complained about. If you want "class identity" the best way is to just have separate skill trees. It's beyond silly to talk about "classes" when there is a shared passive tree. |
