So lets just make CI grant low life status! This will totally devalue Shavronnes and make sure everyone switches to CI builds since you could have all the upsides of low life bonuses while not dealing with the horribly low light radius! This would be a great balance decision! While we are at it lets just make CI change status effect rolls to roll against max ES rather than HP so CI is immune to stun/freeze/shock too! That way everyone can just play CI and be super happy about not ever being stunned, frozen, or shocked while also being immune to chaos damage and dealing infinite damage with PA. Sounds legit! Seriously, why have other options? Just make CI hands down better than everything else.
You're right, fixing an issue where CI is not near on par with lowlife or HP-based builds is essentially the same as elevating the build to above all others.
Slippery slope fallacy, activate.

I really only have one question... have you played the build? Have you done it solo as a Melee? As a Spell Caster? Take for example being chilled repetitively.. this is simply ridiculous and crazy dangerous.. added cold dealing monsters and frost casters are too prevalent making it hard not to feel it impacts the viability of this build or ignore it. Even at 75% cold resist I get chilled way too much. I guess another solution might be to make being chilled very less likely when your resist is max'd out (which is 75% in Merc). I also wear Alpha Howl and that does keep me from being frozen but does little to help being chilled.

You should have 85% resists as a melee btw.

Then something is amiss... I tried to get it beyond 75% last night and could not it just capped there on my Shadow build.. I'll try again tonight!

Elemental Adaptation to 80%. Then Purity with Inner Force to 85.

Ahh k.... I have not hit those nodes completely yet.. I have been relying more on armor, rings etc. to add to elem resists.

I have not played CI since CB, and I don't need to in order to understand what you guys are looking for here. You are clearly looking for GGG to eliminate the downsides of CI (when in actuality they just need to remove the OP uniques Shavronne's and Kaom's). It is typical for people to come on a game's forum to plea for a buff to their class. That is all this thread is. A whole bunch of whine 'buff my build, buff my build' blah blah 'i don't understand game mechanics nor do i understand the definition of consistency'. Mark's response in this thread was perfect. It pointed out the FACT that there is no inconsistency and CI is working as intended.
It is abundantly clear however that massively OP unique items like kaom's and shavronne's need to be reworked or removed from the game. They are terribly designed and completely kill diversity.

Well, if you are that green I don't think you should be giving ANY balance advice on the game. Not to be a jerk, but you need to actually pretty knowledgeable about the game before trying to give sound advice on balancing it...
@Omerta - Yes I know its a slippery slope. Was not really being serious, but it seems that is not far off from what some people think would be a reasonable solution. CI is not the problem imo. Kaom's and Shavronne's are the problems.

I'd rather they introduce a lot more items like those.

Your assumption that I am that green is pretty much from left field. I am guessing you are assuming I am not knowledgeable about the game because I have chosen not to use those particular nodes in favor of others ergo I did not explore their use at all. Truthfully it was never an issue until I made the jump to a CI build. I guess if I stretch I could see how you could assume that even though it does not logically follow. But even if I were that green your premise that someone who has put substantial time into a build has no basis to comment on the builds value or balance lacks foundation. I'm not trying to quibble but experience is not everything though it does have a good deal of value. Additionally its not hard to educate oneself by going through the tons of posts there are to read through too. Sorry you do not find value in any of my posts though as I trust you have read them all.

Really? Why? Dominant unique items suck ass. If I wanted all my characters to be wearing the same equipment I would go play D3.

Which showed that you didn't even know what the resist cap was at, let alone how to raise it.
You might have a little experience with CI, but do you have experience with the other builds to have any valid reference points for your balance comparisons? I am not saying that you don't have anything of value to say, I am just saying that I would take balance advice from someone who didn't know the resist cap with a grain of salt.
