LOL Have you played ruthless? I absolutely do. Only time I dont is SSF and even then its not that hard to manage. I rarely play ruthless SSF unless I am feeling massochistic.
Just so we are clear you dont even have a 4 link RF on your level 50 ruthless character.
Because you cant get it.
Level 50 POE2 you would have multiple 4 links on anything you want.
Also calm down, I wouldnt clarify myself "having played ruthless" when my only character is a level 50
I dont claim to be a hardcore player because I got to level 38 in the settlers gauntlet

+1 to OP
Only thing I'd add is that I did get good.
The problems are still problems.
Primarily, POE2 is too harsh with Punishments.
Difficulty is great, Punishments are bad.
The only cost for failure should be time.
Running into a boss over and over during the campaign was great.
I love the resetting the fight between deaths.
Once you beat the campaign you no longer get to do that.
Not that it really matters as I end up one shotting most stuff anyways.
Its gotten to the point where I don't actually want to play end game anymore.
Probably just going to level all the classes and get one of each to Endgame.
That seems more fun, and respectful of my time than Endgame.

You do not have every support gem specialized for every skill gem of your choice during the campaign in POE1R.
The same as you do in poe2, but now youre limited by game design that forces to use a single support for a single skill and not by availability of said supports. While in POE1 the latter can be fixed with trading/shipping/lab running later in the game, in the campaigns both titles enjoy some crappy 1-2 link combos with crappy options presented by a game, even with different methods of delivering such options.

Because I havent been playing that char and he is act 5 only and still smokes the content. I almost never bother to fully gem out until after acts.
By comparison your ruthless char is ....
Oh wait ... you dont have one ...

New account, private. The hits keep comin' and they don't stop comin and they don't stop comin.
check out the OPs account too for a laugh
Oh I did. I respect the SSF and Ruthless hustle. Still a stretch to say "veteran" but more than most of these completely fresh accounts.
Meanwhile, my account. Joined September 11th 2011. Beta invite Jan 24th 2012. Characters in nearly every league (had to delete many :( ). Most achievements. Hardcore level 70 back when level 70 actually meant something (and hardcore was actually fun).
I share most (not all, but most) of the OP's complaints and have many more of my own, particularly when it comes to the Trial of Chaos being worse than Ultimatum in every way and mapping being just not fun at all.
But it annoys the hell out of me to see these complaints that come from a massive history with the game be dismissed by people that have never taken a character past act 1.

Nearly every POE1 veteran that posts a thread about issues with the longevity of POE2 is a long term POE1 veteran. They have played many leagues, some of them have played nearly all leagues. They have seen mechanics like crafting iterated on and they keep coming back. These are the people that made POE2 possible by their financial support of GGG. They are offering considered feedback based on thousands of cumulative hours of playtime in POE1 and are being hate trolled to death by newcomers to this game and often genre. That is pretty par for the internet but the fact that GGG is not responding to our concerns is troubling.
The game that the newcomers want wont survive. As many veterans have pointed out a massive super long campaign, busted crafting system that is little more than a sadistic RNG generator and other issues will limit the longevity of the game.
Need proof? I can prove it in 2 days. Just reset the server like a new league. Add a class to the game and reset. All of those newcomers are going to throw an absolute tantrum. The old veterans are going to sagely nod and say "yep, now you get it."
POE2 wont survive a dozen years like POE1 because people who want to play and support the company are not going to slog through this mire that makes ruthless feel easy (I went back to my ruthless char to get some achievements and it felt easy).
To GGG,
Ignore us at your own peril. The issues, and often fixes, are all over this forum posted by veterans with evidence and discussion often trolled by the "git gud" crowd of newcomers offering no actual content in their emotion laden replies. Almost every POE1 veteran and streamer I see has SERIOUS concerns. If you want to expand the audience rather than replace it for one that buys one MTX and leaves, there is a TON of work to do with this game and if you don't intend to listen to the players that made the game a success then I think whoever is making these decisions at GGG is possibly not right for this role. Copying Diablo IV or dark souls isn't going to make this game a success. Those games are another animal and the wrong audience.
The newcomers don't get it but they will when they have to run the campaign for the third time starting all over. Then they will just leave, numbers will plummet and they wont come back.
What about me? If the game is released in this state I will probably use the few hours I have to play games in POE1. If you shut down POE1 without fixing POE2 I will just stop playing your game.
For the first time in a dozen years I feel like GGG could care less what we have to say and that is bothersome.
-- Sincerely
-- A supporter that has given your company nearly $1200 over the 10 years.
+1
It's even more frustrating because you see Diablo fans agreeing with veteran PoE1 players.
Because BOTH were fooled by the advertising for this game.
They both expected an ARPG Looter, only to end up with a PoE1 sequel, which is actually a soulslike with all the problems of Diablo 4.
And extremely slow to progress.

I would agree, I dont have much of a problem with death to bosses. So long as the death is a fair one and I am not being one shotted in a way I cant dodge. That is just tuning though and doesnt bother me. What bothers me are the DECISIONS being made that are problematic.
