Floored by the power spike of TRADING. This will ruin the game.

you know that the trade site is the offical trade site from GGG,right?

It's only an issue for you (and I'm sure some people that agree), but we've laid out why we like it the way it is pretty well. You just called us crackheads for it lmao.

Rogers talks about it EXPLICITLY in this video, saying that they need trade restrictions EXPLICITLY to avoid the issues raised in this thread.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills talking to you guys.

No wonder no one engages with this forum, talking to you know-it-alls is like talking to a wall.

Yes, which means that they can impose restrictions on it.

And I'm assuming they will eventually create more in game trading akin to their currency exchange, it only makes sense and then they can directly impose the gold penalty there with full control.

But if a third party site, or outside parties enact a form of $$$ for power service which is all to common in online economies it will disrupt the economy and it will also lead to endless spam in trade channels.

Heck it could even be free and fan run. Any service that allows players to interface with one another and sell their items in a trade window for no penalty will cause the economy to run amuck again in exactly the way Johnathan details in the video.

The potential is still here for gross spikes in power on the cheap, but it will be much better than the official trade channels feeding into this mass item saturation.

But I'm optimistic because they must surely be aware of this, so they likely have ideas to make trade only easily instantiated between a small group of friends or within guilds of finite size.

We simply don't know what their plans are, time will tell, but we do know they are aware of these potential issues and have been brainstorming solutions for years now.

play SSF. your problem has been solved. Why you worry about how other players have fun and play the game reeks of some controlling behavior. Get that sorted out weirdo.
Well, anyhow, I think this thread has run its course.

Been a real pleasure engaging with this community! If there are any big developments in this thread, I might engage some more, but I think in light of the guys' at GGG's comments on the matter, this is a bit of a non issue.

This thread will be great for anyone concerned about trade and the future ramifications on the game and I have updated the main post with those links to the interview.

Enjoy the game everyone.
Trading and free market has been a core concept in GGG's dev since the start of poe1. What would be the point of gatekeeping trade behind an unreasonable amout of gold or a divine tier drop rate ticket ? That won't happen, you just have to look at how the currencies market is balanced when it comes to gold cost. Some trades can be a glod sink, but they involve a high number of currencies being traded. Small trades are cheap so everyone can engage with it.

Gold cost is just there to prevent bots or people to just trade without interacting with the game, and I don't see why it would be different for an auction house.

So, if power granted by cheap traded items is really too high like what you say, what should they do ? The way to balance is to tweak items, not to mangle trading. Items have levels and stats requirements, that also correlates to maximum affixes tiers and weighting of thoses. If they find out that some affixes are too powerful and/or common at some item tiers, they will work on making the items weaker overall. Offer and demand being a thing, items with rarer and stronger affixes will still be on high demand and will see their prices icrease, leaving that cheaper spot for weaker stats.

If the balance they come with does not suit you once that's done (or even if it stays as it is if they are fine with the current balance), just go SSF or play a private trade league, it just means that trade league isn't meant for you. Nothing bad with that, but there is no point in trying to just break a trading system that has been working for years and is one of the strongest point of GGG's philosophy.
This is one of the longest troll threads I've seen on a forum for years.

Masterfully done sir. You may return to your bridge now.

The problem that GGG is trying to address with POE 2 is a vocal player base accustomed to easy mode mechanics that wants an easy mode button.

No one is arguing against my point that trade isn't a horrible power spike that destroys the game loop.

You all just want your easy mode button that ruins the experience.

counter point to your bad point.

the real game is collecting more and more currency.

also - what map tier are you on? Let me guess. Not higher than 5, and yet you are here saying you traded into the best items.

The best items are not really related to map tiers.

Most "reasonable expensive" endgame gear is available quite soon.

Many told him but he ignored that solution completely. I guess because otherwise he couldn't complain anymore. ^^
