Ok, I'll play devil's advocate for you guys since no one here seems to want to actually discuss this issue.
There is a distinct difference in loot in POE 1 and 2, that being the difference with the gem system.
Trade in POE 1 was more necessary because the gem link system was so key to power, and during a league, these random items added a huge bit of diversity to the system.
Mastering the game involved understanding of what gem links were potent, and this fed into a deeper mastery of a complex trade system that offered not just resists and crit rates and such, but a system where players had to understand how the gem setups would feed into their build.
sorry, but this just tells me that you havent really played poe1
access to gems was never a problem in poe1 past like open beta
and especially not since they placed lily roth into act 6
trade in poe1 had nothing to do with gem system. nothing. the devs believe in power of trade and economy. they made ssf mode for people who dont want to depend on economy too. you should check it out.

For them, there is solo-self-found. Everyone is happy. So why even make this thread?
Last Epoch tried to mitigate that gap between traders and ssf-players. I'd love an ssf mode with improved drop rates.

Nobody wants to discuss the issue because you are the only one who is pushing this (non-)issue. Go play SSF.

As others have pointed out, SSF exists and lots of people play it and succeed, so trade is not at all strictly necessary if that's not your play style. I personally enjoy engaging in trade but nothing prevents me from doing every single thing in the game without it. I was never "stuck" I just want engaged in that solo grind style and after playing other single plate ARPGs I had the same issue. I just love trade.
So trade or grind hundreds of hours to compensate?
Telling us that SSF exists as if that makes a point just shows that the point is flying above your head. SSF exists and it is not the answer.
Last Epoch exists, they solved the problem. Everybody wins with such a system.

yeah thats an inane take by op. no one is arguing because there is no basis for an argument. your problem is already solved. you dont have to engage with it if you it lowers your enjoyment. others engaging in it has 0 detriment to your enjoyment. everything else is a matter of personal experience that you try to generalize. all that happens after is that people let you know that they dont share that generalized experience.

This EXTREMELY successful game? Clearly must be doing something so much better than PoE. :O
But as I said before, I'm on board with loot buffed no-transfer SSF for people that want it.
Still wouldn't be what I choose to play despite people trying to convict me I don't know what I enjoy. :P

Well "solved" is an overstatement, but they are aware of the issue and try to cater to both camps.

Ive been playing poe for over a decade, and this is majority of players who dont like trade, boils down to.
as in, they dont want to trade, but also they want better drops
ironically, getting better drops means doing exactly what the op is advocating against. it makes the grind shorter.
so when ssf with same drop rates as trade is not a solution, you know that the players arent really against instant gratification, they are just against game drops being balanced around trade.

The real issue is not trading, it's GGG not giving SSF a special/better loot table because SSF players are allowed to migrate their chars to the trade league. LE doesn't allow SSF characters to migrate to the trade league (as far as I can remember).
