Floored by the power spike of TRADING. This will ruin the game.

We want the thrill of knowing we can progress with loot we have found, and knowing that the game is well tuned when insulated. This is exactly why diablo 2 has survived the test of time so well, it has such a wonderfully balanced path to power start to finish with no trade necessary.

Those moments of finding that wonderful rare item in Diablo 2 outshine almost all other ARPGs.

What the hell are you talking about? I remember trading ((buying and selling items) in original diablo 2 back in the early 2k as much as I trade in poe1 nowadays.

The new plulgged in nature of gamers and the ultra hardcore playstyles that emerges as people adopt the habits of streamers has greatly diminished the fun and exploratory nature of trade. It's now a cold and simple system where players trade for measurable, immediate, and massive jumps in power into an end game where they slowly raise their power levels by predictable and bland small % gains at a time. This kills the magic.

Dude, LOL, there weren't any streamers back in 2000.

PoE 1 has survived (and flourished) while always being centered and balanced around an economy. PoE 2 will also do that. It's not everyone's cup of tea, and for those people we have SSF. Trading prolongs the longevity of endgame/high-end gameplay, even though some might see it as the opposite.

Do you honestly believe POE 1 is "balanced"?
I play trade league, but avoid trading as much as possible, in PoE 1, i would trade when i need to craft, to exchange up currency, or when i reroll and i need to get started in maps. Or when i find a very good item.
Otherwise I hardly answer to trades, i'd only get out of my maps for div trades.

I would like a SSF mode with limited trading -> currency, and maybe max 2 trades per hours with players.

Is that what you got from my post? If so, then you should probably read a little bit more into it.

Is PoE a perfectly balanced game? Of course not. A game with that much content and with so many moving parts can never be "balanced". But the game, and its mechanics, is - from the ground up - balanced around the idea of trading. There's no way around that.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Right, that's my point. Trade was an entirely different beast. Gamers by and large weren't all hardcore with the mentality of consuming content at a rapid pace. The gaming culture then was much more casual and trade could exdist without being a poison that all engaged with because everyone had a thirst to crush through the content ASAP.

Back then, it was often considered bad to ruin the game, to show cutscenes, to have spoilers like what sort of loot would drop at end game. The community at large had a radically different psyche, a much more healthy one.

It is not good for the enjoyment of entertainment to want to simply consume it as fast as possible.

You want the cliff notes version of a video game. You want a dissected, expedited and diminished version because you don't have the patience to enjoy the experience as it was carefully created by a team of creatives.

This player base of POE 1 has quite literally been spoiled. The gaming player base at large has by streamers.

It's done untold damage to this scene having the absolute most die hard gamers being glorified and normalized as everyone thinks we should be grinding and maxing power as fast as the absolute most hardcore gamers on earth.

Unless a game goes out of its way to protect its content from this contagious mindset players WILL go out of their way to destroy their experience. And most will have no idea what they have robbed from themselves.

If trade were restricted, if the streamers themselves could not engage with it, and HAVING FUN was normalized. The state of this genre would be healthier and the life span would be longer.

Why is this? Why does trade have to exist? And why does it make the experience better for some players?

Genuinely curious.

Isn't your whole point that you just want better drops to progress through the game faster without needing to trade?

Either way, loving the old man yells at clouds vibe you've got going on. Lmao

The irony of thinking you deserve a participation trophy of power for getting a few orbs and trading them for top tier items...
