Floored by the power spike of TRADING. This will ruin the game.
" What's frustraiting is people think trade benefits their enjoyment of a game, but detracts from it in so many ways. Without trade the game would be tuned to award some ammount of more power and options from more drops and more drop logic to ensure players recieve cool loot from enemies. I'm not even advocating for the removal of trade per say, but it's not the worst option. The worst option is leaving trade as it is where it will greatly diminish the experience for so many people. If it were just a personal vendetta, believe it or not, I wouldn't be posting this and bumping this thread. But my goal is for this fantastically made game to be more fun. I know the devs are huge fans of trade, and it's part of their vision, but I'm not sure they are aware of the affect that it will have on this game long term. And curtailing this negativity in small bits isn't going to prevent the damage. There is such a phenomenal game here that it's gut wrenching to see it torn apart by a few economy systems that do not fuel playing of the game. The ironic part is the people who's experience is destroyed the most, ARE THE PEOPLE WHO FIGHT FOR IT HARDEST! We don't want them to remove trade and call it a day, we want the secondary crafting elements and drops to receive a shot in the arm to compensate a bit. Those who indulge in trade are like users of hard drugs. They will rationalize it in every which way, they think their life is better because of that immediate dopamine hit, but they would have a better life if they found a more meaningful path to fulfillment that gives meaning to the whole of their lives, not some shortcut. Yes, if they could recapture the magic of diablo trading back in the day, the game would be a little better. But truthfully, that trading is a small multiplier on the fun. Trading as it stands cuts the longevity of the game to 1/5 or more and in the long run the satisfaction of playing the game by over 1/2. It is a TERRIBLE system that is destroying the joy of this game for so so many people in so many ways that most do not comprehend. It is absolutely the largest sunk cost far beyond challenges. If GGG are able to fix the trade problem and add a bit more late game with item diversity. This game is the next diablo 2, full stop. Last edited by crazyfingers619#3901 on Dec 17, 2024, 3:21:17 PM

This is a multiplayer game with a heavy focus on trading from its very beginning.
Literally if trading doesn't give you a big boost something's wrong. Innocence forgives you

" Eve online has mass trading and it's boring as sin. Just because it's part of a vision doesn't mean that the vision can't be faulty, it doesn't mean that times can't change and something that was once a lofty idea is no clearly detrimental from the sheer volume of items and currency being pumped into the economy. Some games are elevated by trade, the economy is very well crafted and baked into the core play. POE 2 actually has an incredible core that the trade system detracts from, the existence of trade is a shame in this instance. Last edited by crazyfingers619#3901 on Dec 17, 2024, 3:24:32 PM

" It's a part of the core experience, It does not detract from it if you are here for what the game advertised. SSF however features no trading and is an add-on game-mode for people who prefer to disconnect from the trading environment, I Highly recommend it for players who do not like the default Path of Exile experience. Innocence forgives you

" Technically they could make SSF mode be multiplayer and just have instanced (non-shared) drops and disallow trading. That way friends can still play with each other. In other words they could just drop the solo and keep the self found for that mode. As an SSF player myself I would welcome such a change, although it doesn't have to be a direct change it could just be another mode/league, that way we have three, standard, SSF, and SF. Then everyone is happy. Last edited by Oblivionbringa#7895 on Dec 17, 2024, 3:30:19 PM

There are a lot of replies here by people with very narrow views who do not want to even entertain the larger impact of these systems on the broader audiences enjoyment of the game.
So all of you are aware that trade severely impacts the balance? You are aware that with trade you WILL be forced to open a trade window and sit there and sell and buy wares, and that at least 9/10 of your items will be obtained from a spreadsheet? You're perfectly ok with the fact that it becomes more rewarding to buy low and sell high than it is to actually use those items you've found and play the game? Genuinely curious. You guys ENJOY this game turning into a spreadsheet simulator for a simple economy system with next to no complexity? |

My great worry is this fun sink will be adjusted in small ways that will not solve the overarching issue.
I hope the guys at GGG are aware of the volume of fun that these systems removes from the game, even for those who think they enjoy this system. Trade cannot be slightly limited here and there, it's a cancer that left to fester will consume all the joy it could have offered in a ravenous manner. IMPORTANT: The great fear everyone has with trade is that without it they won't be able to keep up with the front of the pack. But that's not true! Because it is trade itself that gave all those power users their huge jump in power! Restricting trade actually makes the game more balanced and allows you to keep up pace BETTER! It's all a grand illusions! Last edited by crazyfingers619#3901 on Dec 17, 2024, 3:37:11 PM

" Short answer yea i find it fun, why ? Because the market isn't always right and to simplify you have 2 options to beat it you ether predict the market and be an hideout warrior, or you find niche farming / crafting strat in game. Now given how low agencie we currently have over the atlas or gamb... hum crafting i think their is a problem but that likely will be fix with coming season. Now about the broader audience, hum dude the majority of players the "casual" wont ever open the trade site anyway. Last edited by LineArck#6395 on Dec 17, 2024, 3:41:35 PM

" And this is why I keep replying to this thread. I do not want this deranged mindset ruining this game that could be so much to so many people in this era where the world needs a great game untainted by this terrible system. |
