PoE 2 Is For Tourists
" LOL | |
" The sad part is that these are "Aesthetic" gamers. They want to brag about how hard the game was and how many times they died to complete the campaign, as if this makes them part of some elite club. But not actually play the game for any meaningful amount of time (Speaking in the scale common in ARPGs and POE especially). To that kind of player, the campaign IS the game. So of course they want it difficult and challenging, would be a pretty bad game if it wasn't. But this is a one and done kind of playstyle. They wont be back after they finish the campaign and maybe do a couple of maps. That's not the audience that POE1 manages to pull every 3-4 months. " Where do you get the picture that people don't understand why some are upset with POE 2? People understand but disagree with the notion that the game has to be remade from ground up to cater to them. So I'd argue who actually needs emotional intelligence - people who accept the game for what it is while offering contructive criticism on what actually needs fixing or the doomsayers to whom this game is the end of times and "disrespect" because they bought mtx in POE 1 (and actually got what they payed for)? |

" That's the thing, they don't. Don't even kid yourself that it won't follow the pattern that these things always do. They have staked the future of GGG on a "too big to fail" project that has alienated a huge part of their core audience. When the twitch dust settles and Asmon goes to play Nekopara 19 or something we will still be here trying to play POE1. They will eventually blame PoE 1 for the failure and underperformance of PoE2 and sunset / neglect it. I know they claim otherwise, but they are lying. Think how bad you would look as a studio head if your decade long "successor" game was completely rejected by your players. They also said they weren't going to "nerf the fun" in EA and guess what the patch notes are all about lol | |
" If GGG is going to release a PoE game that is missing almost everything that made PoE special and able to survive for a decade, they are in for a rough surprise when the initial hype wears down and they have to take a realistic look at what they just spent the last 5 years making. Especially when the conversations about it all get derailed to being about "balance" or "difficulty". PoE1 has had extremely wild balance and difficulty that flies all over the place and it survived through all of it. It survived because of it being a special game that offers a unique experience no matter how whacked out the balance became. PoE2 no longer has these things to protect it. |

" Yeah just disregard and don't even quote the second half of what I said: "if you can't understand why people are upset with how VASTLY different this game is to the first 1 then you need some emotional intelligence training at your place of work." Put a 2 on the end of the title Make people think its more of the same Make another terrible carrot/stick based ARPG Be surprised when people think its shit Not a hard concept to understand is it? Diablo 4 enjoyers still have their Diablo 4. This post was sponsored by me.

For those saying, "This is only early access; it'll get better!" I counter thus:
How long before it gets better? Right now, PoE Deuce is riding on hype. I was here for the Alpha of PoE, and while there were certainly criticisms of the game as it progressed through Beta and into full release, I don't recall anything even approaching the level of negativity this game has generated. Right now, the Steam numbers or whatever other metric you can point to are carried by the initial rush to play the "new hotness," and continue to be supported by the steady trickle as more people join the game. That trickle will not go on forever, and if PoE Deuce doesn't start to satisfy more people than it does now, not even Sunk Cost Fallacy will keep people playing in those kinds of numbers. The clock is ticking, before the merely curious and the deeply furious both quit, leaving behind only the true believers to support this thing on their own. And if you think people will come back after this thing has had time to cook, sure, but not in anything like current numbers. ='[.]'= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/

So you guys knew its not the same as PoE1 and still tried it out, thats good. Now in just few days of EA while you didn´t make it through campaign yet (which is normal and also fine since it needs a lot of time) you know the game is "bad"?
I knew EA means a lot of problems and a lot of fixing needed not sure what you were expecting. If you don´t wanna keep playing thats fine but there are many more people who really likes the game than people giving their insane "2 days worth of playtime review". This is the same as giving a TV-Show which has 24 Episodes a review in Episode 1. Like you don´t even know whats coming how can you already give a fair review? You can give feedback thats appreciated but stop that hating because this game isn´t just for you. Otherwise just play PoE1 or whatever other games you like. " They also said that they were going to make support gems give interesting and unique effects instead of being mostly damage. They failed to execute on this and reverted it, instead relying on a bandaid fix of "1 of each gem per character". Last edited by Xendran#1127 on Dec 9, 2024, 4:18:27 AM

" I don't think anyone here "can't understand why people are upset". That's not a hard concept too. We're here simply to add opinions on the matter, so it's not all doom and gloom coming from PoE1 enjoyers. |
