PoE 2 Is For Tourists

"
You think people will play the campaign and quit?

No, people should be attracted by campaign into the endgame. Not everyone will stay for many hours here, but if campaign itself is unattractive, then most won't even be getting to endgame in the first place.

"
Those are the tourists were talking about. The actual game is end game. The majority of design and balance is all focused around the end game. The players who will spend the most money 1000% will be spending 95%+ of their time in end game.

And all this is just typical elitist crap which doesn't even matter much, all the way down to last sentence. A small number of players buying all the packs will not bring more money than half a million players each bringing $10.

Sure, a good ARPG must include some kind of "bragging rights" endgame. Sure, a perfect ARPG must have a great and engaging endgame. But it's absolutely nowhere near "majority of design and balance should be focused there".

"
And saying D4 is designed around end game was a joke right? D4 has no end game lmfao. It is 100% designed around the "Play campaign and then everything sucks". My mind exploded reading that.

D4's best parts (even if those still suck hard) are all in the endgame. Campaign is just a pack of nicely made cutscenes suspended in the blandest gameplay I've seen in recent years. Anything past campaign is mind-numbingly boring until you get to uber bosses, which will provide a TINY sliver of short-term fun (and then you'll likely throw D4 in the recycle bin).

The saddest part of this is how the self-proclaimed veterans who love pointing out how new others are have to be told by those new people and "tourists" that the thing they're struggling with and finding "too difficult to play" isn't particularly difficult.

In no community ever before have I seen "veterans" priding themselves on struggling with a game casual players breeze through.
It's usually the other way around lol

You are all over this forum and you have played one character to level 86 since freaking HARVEST LEAGUE... when you didn't finish the campaign.

You are also either intentionally misunderstanding the issues people have with the game or you are incredibly dense.

What are you even here for?

today on: Veteran who struggles with basic boss fight mechanics points out that other person who doesn't struggle with them is a newer player.
3 times in a row.

Can't make this shit up.

I'm not the one struggling with basic boss mechanics ♥

You are just being dense.

The boss fights are easy. I think the bosses are the best part of the game. You are here talking about things you don't even understand.

Only boss I struggled with was the hammer lizard and it was because I had just rerolled to a completely different build. Took me six tries. I was a Lost Ark player. The boss mechanics are not difficult lol
You're sitting here arguing with me when you literally are the tourist I'm talking about. You've played one PoE character in the last 5 years, and you couldn't even crack level 90 with it.

It's great that you enjoy the game. It's great that you like the bosses, I think they're the best part as well.

You don't have the perspective to see that people like you cannot sustain the game. As soon as Twitch moves to a different meta you will be gone. You probably won't even make it to Season 2, whenever that is.

It's not that I think it's wrong to make a game that is aimed at a different audience. It's that calling this PoE is ridiculous, and somehow a huge part of the conversation seems to be centered around difficulty when that's not even top 10 problems that the game has.

Bad balance is expected in EA. Bad design, bad system changes, and zero fun are not.

succinctly put! I agree 100%
People get their identity tied up in games. They go from a person who likes PoE2 to "A PoE2 enjoyer". That means criticizing PoE2 is like criticizing them, their taste of games, and by extension their intelligence.

So they feel the urge to defend it from all criticism, no matter how valid the criticism is.

Yes, yes. Tourist. Promo. Only one character. I got it, thanks. You've said that like 20 times now.
Shame that's all you come up with, and nothing at all related to any of the points I made.

You don't have a point...

Your point is basically "I like it because it's hard and you must just suck at the game" when I don't even think the game is hard...

You don't have the PoE 1 experience to even let you understand why PoE 2 is inferior because you haven't ever even made it past the early midgame of PoE 1.

It's great, you can like it, whatever. Doesn't mean the game will stick around or work if it's anything like the way it is in EA today.

Answer this question and I'll take you seriously... What is the most complicated craft you ever completed in PoE 1?
This is how I feel about the game currently. It's just too shallow and feels more like a chore, since 90% of my experience has been constant dodge-rolling just to kill an enemy with a sponge of a health bar.

I am all for hard difficulty but it simply needs to be fun in the first place.
