Diablo 3 and this Game - What's the Difference?

No, you can only have one out at a time. :(
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

Yeah, so to summarize, POE > D2 > D3! Can't we all agree on one thing and be happy ponies?

The flambe grillez may get all hot but, some of us (me in this camp) in our opinion is more D2 in gameplay.

So,

Yet another Exile from the land of D3-Oriath! Welcome over-board! Make yourself at home. Hopefully you can make the $60 back (then buy a POE Diamond support pack) from the D3 RMAH! :)
POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!

If I find a good white item with decent implicit mods on it, I can use a single alchemy orb and have a valuable and usable item. I do not have to use 'A LOT' of orbs on it.

You should add the word MIGHT in that sentence as in...

"I can use a single alchemy orb and I MIGHT have a valuable and usable item"

either my luck is good or the gods of RNG frown upon you.

when i use alchemy orbs my results break down to roughly these percentages:

50% : good stats and numbers

25% : good stats and maybe 1 bad stat eg evasion on an armour stacker but still a good item and usable

25% : bad luck and the wrong stats eg caster int stats on a plate helm for a 2handed axe user

-=edit=-
and yes I do understand the definition of the word "might", the point I am trying to make is that its not all doom and gloom as you make it out to be.

RNG is simply that...
random number generation

Nerds. One would think we're having a debate over constitutional law or something.

Funny you say that since I study law. :D
Haha. Then you likely understand what I mean when I draw the analogy. :)

I'm well aware of the analogy you are trying to draw here. And that my back & forth posts resemble arguing over trivial matters, but I'm sick to death seeing simplification being the norm of today's games, to me - Path of Exile is literally the last bastion of hope in the Action RPG genre. I'm not going to see yet another great title under its way succumb to World of Warcraft Shoulderpads and crappy story.

Well, these are my observations from creating one of each toon; highest one is lvl 9 i think. I played D3 and it was fun. Can't play anymore unfortunately - for some reason after last patch or whatever, everytime I try to launch, it tells me that some critical file couldn't be activated or something. I put in a ticket to the morons at ActiBlizz and they told me that I need to run in Admin mode. Which is something I've been doing all along... sigh... why are they so incompetent??? I have a Masters in IT - Info Sec, so I know they're being a bunch of lazy sods... but this is neigher here nor there....

Anywho, I tried out this game and it's lots of fun. I get to die quite a lot lmao! It's refreshing after playing games where it's basically impossible to die unless you're absolutely terrible.

Seems like D3 is a "prepackaged" game where all the thinking has been done for you; but then again, I think that the online gaming industry is moving in this direction anyway. Sigh... even Rift has dumbed down it's game starting in 1.0.7. D3 has a tremendous amount of money sinks, as most games do these days... D3 is fun to play though - I guess I have an "unspoiled" view seeing that I never played D2 or D1 but it's fun adventure and see new places find fun drops, etc... Happy that crafting is "free" in this game :) I like this game as it's a challenge to do stuff. Lots of kiting especially when you're being chased by 20 mobs lmao! This game, at least imho, is challenging and makes you think - although, to be quite honest, I have no clue as to what I'm doing with the passive skills... I have a lvl 9, I think he's lvl 9..., shadow and been pumping lots of dex in him and just gave him some minion abiltities. My mage has lots of int so far and spell dmg I think and was thinking of adding crit. So it's an adventure to be sure....

And I who thought I used a rather neutral tone in my post, this barrage of emotions you are throwing at me implies I have upset you. Why I know that I have upset you is because some of your replies clearly show you haven't really read what I wrote, all you saw was an attack against your precious baby. Well, clearly given your post history anyone who dislikes Diablo 3 is "laughable".

Seeing as how you are so interested in my post history (im flattered) you will see I really couldnt give a tinkers cuss about what others think or feel. And let me assure you old bean, I have never been remotely angry about anything on the internet, least of all wildly misinformed walls of text from people who think they are far more intelligent than they are, but just parrot poorly informed hipster opinions.

I didnt read all you wrote cause it was boring mate, I scan read the important bits that was bad enough. And tbh be my guest, dislike D3 all you want, personal preference is fine, but dont try to justify that preference by inventing or magnifying flaws or issues often where there are none in D3 and then downplaying or ignoring the flaws of POE.

My point to the OP, if you weren't such a rabid fanboi and understood what I wrote (only 1 person has so far so kudos to them) was that they are both great games in their own way, but that POE is like D2 with a few new ideas chucked in, where as D3 is like a totally new game, it takes the genre in a new direction. Some may not like that, thats cool. But thats what the issue boils down to.

As the OP said he had never played D2 and had only played D3 by getting a pass from a wow subscription, I presumed that he'd most likely be underwhelmed by POE. Im not saying all people think like that or that you should think that, I couldnt care less what you think if im honest mate, I was merely replying to the OP with an alternative view to the usual gushing praise for POE and vitriole for D3 you get here.

LOL and Im the fanboi you say, yet I play both games and like them both... odd that

Can i ask where are you right now in D3??? If you are in inferno with your DH, tell me sir, did u do the whole inferno level without preparation and smoke screen solo and without dieing more than 20 times in each act.

Oh yeah since you've said you do not use the AH, i'll believe you. Good luck when you get to act 2 with your barb without farming for years in act 1.

Well i am liking D3 so far (3 different classes at level 60 and another 3 at mid 30s). But fuck me the latency there is so much worse than in POE. This i cant live with. Only thing preventing me from playing POE is the beta status.

Like I said Blizz have said that in patch 1.03 they are dialing down act 2 inferno onward cause its to tough right now, they are also improving ilvl drop rates throughout all of inferno but especially act 1. On from that in patch 1.1 build diversity (and improving it) is being targetted. No its not perfect right now, but I still feel its more diverse than POE, sorry I just do, and Ive played both extensively now.

Thing is some people aren't concerned about diversity, and thats fine. Some peoples main focus is creating weird builds or just loot, and those people will probably have more fun in POE. But for people who want a more dynamic and fluid gameplay experience D3 is better.

The latency though, yeah its shocking at times I totally agree with that. POE I have never had an issue with (well not much) That said when POE goes OB and then live that may change.

You should add the word MIGHT in that sentence as in...

"I can use a single alchemy orb and I MIGHT have a valuable and usable item"

Most players know the chance of rolling a great item first time from an alch orb is minimal, most likely it will take numerous scouring and then numerous alch orbs to get it right. And god forbid if you decide you want a new support gem for the attached skill that doesn't match the available colours, rerolling a 6 socket item to get the exact right colour sockets is a painful experience.

Besides you miss my point entirely. You said a white item is usuable. Its not, a white item is usable after you've crafted it. In the same way you can craft items in D3... I swear sometimes you guys are either willfuly stupid or just dont understand basic game mechanics, you get so hung up on the process you cant see how similar certain systems are in practice.

Oh and really, picking holes in grammar?? We are stooping to that now are we... /lame

Why... are you even here...? Your entire post history is you saying D3 is better...?

I dont know what interview you mean and dont care what Jay Wilson said anyway. All I care about as a gamer is whether its fun to play. I have a Barb whos St and Vitality are EQUAL cause I chose to socket gems to make it that way, I have a DH whos stacking INT to get higher resists, whats the issue? In D2 you got to pick a few stat points that all went into 1 or 2 stats dependent on your build. It wasnt choice, it was the illusion of choice. Just like POE, yeah you can build a pure dex Marauder if you like, but good luck with that, bottom line apart from having to waste passive points on int or dex to use the occasional non str skill a marauder will just pump everything into strength, so what exactly am I missing out on by not having that?

You are stacking INT on a DH? Good luck with that, you do realize you get .1 resist per int? so 100 int = 10res which is a very very tiny amount considering you can get 80 res @ on a single piece. I figured with your undying love for D3 you would be a little bit better at it. DH is just a glass cannon anyway... stack crit damage, use sharpshooter, win.... I was actually having fun with D3 for a week or two, now its really really boring. However, this RMAH is so awesome! Bot scripts that buy and sell for real money? Yes please!
