Diablo 3 and this Game - What's the Difference?

Let me re-state my point for the fourth time and let's see if you can grasp the context without sidetracking.

I can't prove any game is a bad game, because ultimately it is up to the player to decide. I quoted that to show you the parts I dislike about it.

Seriously, you seem to have a huge issue dealing with the fact that I don't like the game. I can list pros and cons to Diablo 3 however I like, you don't have to agree - but fact of the matter is, a lot of people who came to PoE did so after being disgruntled about Diablo 3.

I have heard on what points people enjoy it, and the only part I agree with is the combat. It is more fast paced in Diablo 3 although at the same time less so when you hit Inferno. And that fast paced combat which came mainly thanks to the new skill system clearly came at a cost as well, the lack of greater customization and it was designed that way because they want to release the title on consoles for more $$$.

And at this point I really don't care what the original post was about, I initiated by quoting some dude who was butt-hurt about the fact that some people didn't like Diablo 3 so I showed him exactly what parts most seemed to dislike. He then went on to break down my post and start analysing it like it was a mid-term exam. So I answered again explaining this time further why I dislike the parts of the game.

You then enter out of nowhere and call me a whiner in regards to Inferno difficulty (lol?) quoting me on something I never said. I reply, you continue to answer without seemingly reading my posts calling me a blind fanboy, I clarify my position on why Diablo 3 is a bad game (from my perspective, notice keyword: perspective) with point-by-point reasons. You still don't seem to get my point at all and you continue up until now posting irrelevant shit that I still have trouble understanding how you landed on those conclusions based on what I was actually writing about. Seriously, stop jumping to these retarded conclusions - "you aren't going to convince others to hate the game" when the fuck did I say that.

I'm not spending my time walking around every thread talking bad about Diablo 3, I'm talking about it here because the thread just happens to be about Diablo 3. Again, I don't know where you get these assumptions from, it's like you make shit up as you go.

I have owned almost every title Blizzard has put up, including Diablo 3 with the exception of World of Warcraft. If I was biased towards anyone, it would be in Blizzard's favour considering half my gaming childhood consisted of their games.

Diablo 3 is a bad game for the reasons I listed, to me personally, these are the many reasons why I think it is dumbed down. I don't know how you define fanboyism, but I think I'm being rather objective if I come to the conclusion that a game released by my most favourite gaming company, responsible for a large portion of my gaming childhood, who I believe have released incredibly good games - released one now that I feel is insulting my intellect with its five-year old storytelling and dumbed down features. Again, before you start spewing random nonsense that has absolutely no connection to my posts, this is my opinion. If you don't like it, then don't, nobody is holding a gun to your head telling you should agree to everything Zeltak says, I don't care if this entire community likes Diablo 3 and disagrees with me, I still think it's a bad game.

Now enough of this shit, the weather is nice and I'm out.

Yeah, ok... lol! D3 was fun as it was my first in the Diablo series so I wasn't sure what I had missed with D1 or D2??? This game is fun as well. That's why I play games - cuz they're fun. After listening to all this chatter, I'll prob go out and get a copy of D1 and D2 and play them so I can get a better understanding of what everyone's talking about.

And Titan Quest, if you haven't already. Damn fine ARPG, that.

Oh Charan, I didn't see it mentioned but is Titan Quest a server based game?? Do you have to play online or can I play, like normal folks, offline??? In case I felt like modding the game. Ok thanks :)

No need to be online to play D1, D2 and titan quest but you can play online if you want.

I like both; they are unique in their own way.

In terms of gameplay feel, PoE is a lot closer to D2 than D3 is. Not necessary better, as we all know PoE IS AIMING for that D2 dark and gloomy feel, while D3 is not; but this makes people who are expecting D3 to be just like D2 liking PoE a lot more.

Difficulty progression in both game are good; though I haven't been in chaos in PoE yet, I can still see where the difficulty will end up. If anything, D3 takes a lot more farm to be viable endgame while D2 you just need to have the "right build"


Storyline wise I am definitely going to side with D3; the twist is somewhat expected but still good nonetheless. Much better story than D2, which is simply linear (chasing down a wanderer, kill everything alone the way; probably only twist is Izual). Can't really comment on PoE as it's still in closed-beta, but I like how they try to make quest not-linear (act 2 bandits)

Skill system is unique for both game. D3 went for "you get everything, but you have to choose what to use at where" approach; while PoE went for "you can be anything, but you have to choose wisely" approach. In D3, I am finding myself swapping my skills from time to time in different encounters; since some skill works better than another in certain situation. In PoE; I can create character however I want, but if I want to change build I will likely need a respect or re-roll a new character. Some find that fun, some find that annoying, I personally find re-rolling a character fun. You can still uses any active skill you want, despite your passives; but most would go with gems that fit their passive most effectively.


Equip system both are very similar to that of D2; except the socket; which PoE uses it for skills, instead of plain old extra stats like D2 and D3 (it might be possible that D3 will introduce additional socket system similar to that of runeword, all is still speculation).


Combat wise, D3 has a lot more kiting involved, due to the op champion packs; boss wise it's a matter of avoid and attack, and usually there's enough tell to know when big attacks are coming. PoE is more like D2, player get much stronger spells to kill monster by level. (D3 relies a lot more on equips for damage)
