Had to Cancel My Diablo 3 Pre-Order
" My point is that diablo 3 is releasing unfinished, and costs $60 on top of the 0-30% they're going to take. In no way did I say any game was better than the other, to me it's just not worth it... After playing good complete games that cost $60 or less. What I'm basically saying is that blizzard is slackin... Sure pvp will come... But when, 6 months, a year? They're not even beta testing it yet lol |

...Blizzard has been slacking for years.

The core game is finished. It's done.
Pvp is an 'addition' that they will later add once that is done. And of course they are beta testing pvp, just not openly. That would be the dumbest thing anyone could ever do in that situation. Also @ charan, every game company ever is always 'slacking'. ''Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters. The silence is your answer.'' GGG ain't slacking, dude. Normally I'd agree with you, because I'm a lazy bastard and want to believe that everyone else is too, but I've had but a glimpse of how hard they work. A glimpse only, but still.
Indie game makers can't afford to slack. After they've made it big and have been bought out for some ridiculous sum...then they can slack. :) If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

Well apparently slacking is being defined here as postponing features or deciding not to do them.
GGG, like any developer, has decided to remove or postpone plenty of things. Thus, they are slacking. If you mean slacking in the general sense which is basically 'being lazy' then I'd say you are being extremely ignorant (or biased, they are pretty interchangeable). After all, how do you know how hard blizzard employees work? One of their released D3 dev diaries states that they work very hard every single day. And sure, who is to say that that is reliable, but then again, who is to say anything is reliable? ''Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters. Was playing POE, and saw my pre-download just finished for D3.
Very excited to be playing both soon. Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb. Last edited by necromuso#3475 on May 3, 2012, 6:56:53 PM

" What is your definition of slacking? just asking because it doesn't make sense how blizzard is slacking while GGG is not.. |

" Ah, the usual linguistic barriers. I can't speak to what xxsjxx1 meant, but by the tone I think they were using the 'everyday' definition of 'slacking', which is, not to put too fine a point on it, 'slacking off' -- i.e. not doing their job. A deliberate decision to post-pone something based on a set of priorities is not necessarily slacking (off), but when it appears that the postponement is hard to justify, then we can accuse the party of 'slacking off'. GGG are very careful to explain their goals, milestones and order of priorities. They're typically realistic about when things will happen, and leave things vague if they don't actually know. They are, in short, honest with themselves and with their consumers. I'm sure it's not all roses and peaches behind the scene but that's not really our problem. The're a very small team with a LOT to do. It'd be almost illogical to look at Path of Exile as it stands right now, consider the size of the team making it, and say, 'you guys are slacking off because [insert game feature here] isn't in!' The biggest problem is, to me, the lack of a better trading system, but even the absence of that is assuredly temporary and they'd be risking a fair bit to go open beta without one. I don't think it'd be a game breaker, but it's important. Still, small team, big achievement so far. I've seen road gangs with more members than GGG do little more than stand around and look braindead, day in, day out. Blizzard, on the other hand, is gargantuan and have been slacking because they can. At the risk of repeating myself, they know their games will sell like crazy whether or not certain features are included. Not too long ago, I would have laughed at the idea of a Diablo game coming out with no PvP inherent, but there it is. And you know it won't make even a tiny dent in their sales. It'll come out eventually, and then they can just patch it in. What should, in my eyes, have been a release feature is not. When you're talking about a triple A company with more money than a small country and a very, very strong history of PvP popularity in their games, this is almost inexcusable. It is most assuredly slacking. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between. I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
