Had to Cancel My Diablo 3 Pre-Order

" Every product is made to get money... with no exceptions :) Also D3 is not the same game with better graphics. How much different it was from usual formula was one of the major complaints for most :D |

Hi and welcome! Similar story, except I never pre-ordered D3. Very few games are first-day purchases for me nowadays, not with the large game companies' tendencies to release flawed builds to get out by release date and then relying on post-release patches and fixes. I prefer to sit back now, and watch how things play out for a while.
...If I wanted to play D3 on May 15th, chances are I'd still want to play it a month or two later after a little of the hype has passed, the bugs have started to be ironed out and things generally settled. ...PoE, on the other hand, is evolving. This isn't something I wanted to wait for, because I wanted to be part of its very fascinating germination. This is the absolute opposite of the triple A title experience for me: instead of being at the mercy of the patches, of the servers, of a giant corporation driven by sales figures at the point of sale (thus the willingness to release flawed products), we are actively involved in the product we desire. This in turn gives the devs a LOT of incentive to keep caring and not turn into money-grubbing assholes, so to speak. ...Anyway! Hi! If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I just watched the D3 Wizard demo. It really give D3 this cartoony immature feel. I'm not feeling how gothic D3 was compared with the previous Diablos :(
As for one of the earlier posts about farmers, well people are already farming here with multis with leecher accounts. I haven't heard anything about what GGG are going to do about this. POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!

I played the d3 beta weekend and was happy with the product, always planned on buying it upon release, Until I found this little gem. I haven't played this yet but from what I have seen and heard from friends it will be mighty awesome and possibly even stop me from spending heaps on the blizzard game. So am excited about this more than D3 now.

"The fact that so many people are coming here from D3 means something. Interpret it as you wish, but people are going to make the comparison when they choose one game over the other. There is no difference between those people bashing D3 and D3 fans bashing PoE (it happens equally from both sides). At least the OP said why he prefers PoE over D3, instead of simply saying one of them sucks. He doesn't like the general direction they took the game and he doesn't like the RMAH. Sure, people can play both games if you want; there's nothing wrong with that. Some people just don't like playing two similar games at the same time. They would rather devote their time to fully enjoying one game instead of partially enjoying two. When such a choice is made, it inspires threads like this one. After all, we're all going to back and praise the game we like better, right? I'm also one of those who cancelled a D3 preorder. I placed that order about 2 years ago, and I have watched the game devolve into something I have no desire to play. The open test confirmed this in my eyes. I will also not be trying the game after release to see if it improves. It's not worth $60 to see if the rest of the game will be fun when a marketing beta showed me so little entertainment value. Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.

" I have been waiting for a worthy successor in the Diablo franchise for over 10 years. I have no 'false sense of entitlement' but I am entitled to decide if a game fits that niche. It has become increasingly apparent with each new update/patch that Diablo 3 is not that game. I will be abusing the RMAH if there is any actual real money market but outside of that it does not intrigue me. Random D3 Hate... raaawwwaaar |
