Had to Cancel My Diablo 3 Pre-Order
" If D3 was free to play as well I wouldn't mind being required to have an internet connection to play it. But it has a $60 price tag on it. The least anyone should demand is being able to play offline. Diablo is not a multiplayer game, requiring the players to connect to a server every time they want to play it is bad service. |

Ugh. Leaving this.
Nothing but (exceptionally) poor explanations of pointless arguments spawned by nothing but bias. Enjoy the 'yes - no - yes - no' discussion folks. ''Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters.

" I'm sorry but your logic fails here. the $60 is irrelevant to the issue of being online to play. PoE being free doesn't change the fact you have to connect online play by yourself. How is it all of a sudden totally acceptable because there is no price tag?? Why does Diablo 3 charging a sale price make it unreasonable there is no offline mode??? Diablo 3 was NEVER meant to be an offline single player game. EVER. There is no point in arguing that it should have single player. It was never going to to start with. “God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I will never die.”

One last one:
I understand what xxnoob means though. He wants to have (or at least, he acts like he wants to have) a game he can always play, even if practically no one would ever play it singleplayer. What makes this an odd type of argument by him though, is that the second you buy anything at all in POE, a hat, whatever, you also 'own' something that you cannot access offline. Thus making his argument (partially) hypocritical, given that it (according to him) is bad for a game not to have an offline mode if the game holds any value. F2p users aren't subject to this of course, but that's why I said 'partially'. ''Stand amongst the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters. The silence is your answer.'' Moved to off-topic on account of my agreeing with Tagek and CharanJaydemyr's assessment of the state of the thread.
Let's see if this cools things down any. I have wandered through insanity;
I have walked the spiral out. Heard its twisted dreamed inanity In a whisper, in a shout. In the babbling cacophony The refrains are all the same: "[permutations of humanity] are unworthy of the name!" |

" Cools down? While I agree there's a lot of biased opinions floating around, there's nothing heated or out of control so far. “God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I will never die.”

" I understood that from his posts. Why he would expect Diablo 3 to offer that, when it was never going to be that kind of game, is what I'm questioning here. “God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I will never die.”

" It is not irrelevant or dumb or nonsensical to object to the always online D3 while tolerating the always online mode PoE. Note : I use the word "tolerating" not "liking." I have more expectations of flexibility when I pay $60 for something vs when something is F2P. Plus Blizzard could certainly afford to produce a single player offline version. GGG is a small company, without the same resources so I cut it some slack. BTW I don't hate D3 but the lack of an offline mode - caused the switch in my head to go from must pre-order to meh... maybe I will get it someday. The lack luster "beta" might have caused that switch to be flipped anyway. It just is not scratching that D1/D2 itch for whatever reason, while PoE is. |
