Is the RTX 3080 too much for POE?
" Unless you define heavily as around 7% or less then it's not. I don't assume you're running 1080p on your hardware so 2k ultra settings is easily a 7% or less bottle neck on your CPU. 4k is half that. People often have a budget limit and the GFX card is far and away a better investment if you're not running low resolutions. If someone has a 1080 and a 2700x and they had an $800 upgrade budget what should they pick? They could get either a 3080 or CPU/MB close to yours. Your CPU offers a 10% frame rate increase over the 2700x at 2k ultra settings while the 3080 offers a 100% frame rate increase. Or to put it another way, your cpu costs about $400 more than a 3700x and offers less than a 5% frame rate increase on a 3080 at 2k and half that at 4k. 5% for $400 sounds like a terrible deal to me but obviously you may do many other things besides play games. " Yep, your money, your time. Throw it any way you choose to. But the majority of players that keep feeding GGG with mtx purchases, just to get the next low performance, high bugged challenge league to feed their addiction doesn't make sense either. So go ahead and lay out mega bucks on a current top of the line graphics card just so GGG doesn't need to work on making performance improvements. I am remembering the old saying... something having to do with a wealthy fool... if I remember correctly. :) "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. The perfect solution to fix Trade Chat: www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2247070 |

cool... I guess.
But what exactly does that bring to the conversation? A PC with the best GPU and one of the best CPUs available can run PoE in 1440p over 100fps? Who would have thought. PoE2 0.4 Character:

working perfectly fine on my HD monitor with RX570.
Dunno why do you need RTX3080 for this game. PoE1 nowadays looks more and more like a fan-made fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players.

I'd spend that money to get a ethernet wire straight to GGG servers.
