Wolcen overtook POE as the new number 1 arpg game on Steam (127k concurrent players at the moment)

Myself and a group of friends are planning to migrate over to Wolcen, but there are too many bugs for the moment. Taking wait and see approach..

I do not play in steam, how are those connections that are played directly from the launcher of poe?

it's abysmally shitty and looks like some 10 year's old had a 20 days shot at making some demo with a arpg construction kit.

how can anyone ever spend money on that?

it looks even worse than diablo 3 before they released it (and repelled me) and that's a achievement they can be proud of (not)

You feel better? Any other Devs and Studios you want to rip? Any other consumers you want to rip for how they decide to spend their own money.

i wouldn't play a game without any hint of an immersion and bubbling damage numbers.

it's athmosphere that draws players in.

wolcen doesn't have that.

when ggg initially went on catching some gamers, they made a weird templar video of unbelievable massacres in the chamber of sin that drew the attention of even weirder folks loving dark and gritty areas and having a faible for this sort of stuff.

we went over dead babies on twilight strand, enjoyed the ui with chained girls to the mana and health globes, passed masses of corpses, caves and some butcher brutus and looked for that chamber (there wasn't much more than that) in the areas around fellshrine.

it was dark, it had athmosphere, it had immersion and difficulty for EVERYBODY and it inspired our imagination which is by lengths more important than spawning some über-boss on some corner of some "endgame room of doom".

now look at wolcen, what inspriration do i get by running around clicking some sprites until they vanish on graphics that look like some amiga 500 could do better?

maybe i'm out of touch with the current generation of gamers, maybe i'm too spoiled by poe and the gameplay it still provides. but wolcen does not trigger me like poe once did. nothing, nada. sorry

if poe has been the game for players who like horror movies, d3 and wolcen are for gamers who like mangas and anime (nothing against this but there are better games for this genre than arpgs)

Oh come on. The graphics in Wolcen are objectively better than PoE's graphics. It's one thing to critique a game--I bought Wolcen, but given its unworkable state, threw a shitfest until I got a refund, despite being past the 2 hours--but trying to imply that the graphics in POE are better than the graphics in Wolcen? Truly, come on.

Atmosphere is different--and more subjective--and I agree that POE remains "grittier" than Wolcen for the most part (though trying to equate Wolcen and D3 is also just objectively untrue).

Everyone who bought that game with the exception of a handful got scammed imo.

If it was POE trading for in game items and currency most people here would be blaming and insulting the buyers. Its even worse imo as this is the exchange of RL money for an actual product/service.

People hlpd pay the start up, people paid for the released game and what they get? A shinny Turd.

Decent/nice graphics compared to some, bug ridden, no real end game, massive QA Red lights and much more that should never of been for a game fully released at that price.

Which is it? Did people get scammed or self scam themselves? To me Wolcen looked like a GG end game item (lets use 6s, 6l, explody crit, res even hp w/e) priced reasonably but swapped out at the trade window for a 6s, 6l PoS which doesn't do what its meant or what most needed in the first place.

Bad. Not bad concept etc etc but bad release to say the least. Now people have to hope they get their money back, the game turns into something decent or they just a lucky one who doesn't care or think they got scammed/self scammed.

It literally would have taken 5-30mins max to see the problems with the game on the net or read about them before hand. 120k+ marks. Hope game gets better for you if you stay with it or pick it up :)

I have been playing Wolcen for the last week.
I like it.
It has TREMENDOUS potential.

It is RIDDLED with bugs...

I plan to keep playing it, assuming they keep fixing bugs.

I also plan to come back to PoE for the start of the next league.

As PoE is currently better than Wolcen, even if all the bugs are fixed.

But...BUT...as has been pointed out by previous posters, PoE was not NEARLY as good when 1.0 came out, it has had years to get better, get more content, etc.

I expect Wolcen to also get better.

anyone want to bet Wolcen's player population v. Path of Exile at 3.10 / "mental illness league" league start ?
