Wolcen overtook POE as the new number 1 arpg game on Steam (127k concurrent players at the moment)

I don't see how it's going to make it. It's all been said by now but every system in the entire game is in an early alpha state and the devs are panicking about the wrong things. They don't appear to have the talent to do anything with their game. Seems like a cash grab where they're fishing for a buyout from Tencent.

Then again, people are so desperate for good games in the genre that they fed the company millions of dollars so maybe they can float the company for 5 years until they can finally turn it into a real game. I doubt it though. PoE2 coming in late 2021, Diablo 4 in mid 2022. The game has to be best in class at that point to survive.

It doesnt need to "make it". It already has. There's no subscription or micro transactions (yet) so its already accomplished it's financial goals.

Unless they plan to release the last two chapters as paid DLC (or other DLC's later) there isn't a great deal of financial pressure as they already have 80-90% of their total lifetime sales.

PoE is STILL full of game-breaking bugs. And yes, poe has let players dupe items, and have infinite currency if you knew how to exploit them before they were patched. Desync used to make poe completely unplayable for me back in the day. Flicker strike used to warp you all over the map and also cause crashes.

Dude, its 2020. You think that Wolcen wouldnt have desync if it came out in 2010 like PoE? Yeah, you can dream.
Comparing launch of a game from 2010 and launch of a game from 2020 is just ridiculous.

Dude, poe's had almost a decade of development time and still has game-breaking issues from time to time. What's ridiculous is comparing a game that JUST launched to a game that's been out for almost a decade. Comparing launch to launch is a far more fair comparison especially since there hasn't been a huge leap in terms of advancement between the two technologically. It's not like comparing a SNES game to a gamecube game. It's more like comparing a ps3 game to a ps4 game.

Awesome. Now post a 45 minute rant from a streamer about PoE Alpha's stability and balance.

Just how badly do you want to win this silly argument? Willing to break Alpha NDA to do it? Lose your account? Mine's already gone, so you might tread carefully here. All I've said is stuff people already know: alphas are buggy and alpha testers are tasked with hunting those bugs. They are also typically buggier than what deploys, although to what degree depends on a number of issues. Either way, ball's in your court (preferably you just let it go). And please don't link another long-ass video about one guy's experiences, no matter how internet-famous he might be. Too many people are still playing for his stance to be decisive or objective.

It's funny how these people easily forgets about league launches on poe or how the first month of a league is 30-31 days of alpha testing by many of the playerbase..

Not worth the time anymore to talk to several people here their vision is only but one to defend their god chris wilson.

poe0.2/10. Nuff said.
I know I am not helping my point here but this thread needs to die. Wolcen has fallen, more or less, on it's face. They've implemented a beta game and it's going how you'd assume

POE has had many years to build and is a great game, get over it, it's a good game.

Fuck this thread.

TLDR: "I didn't watch the video you linked, which included plenty of on-screen disasters and a detailed accounting of both bad and good facets of Wolcen, so it has no bearing on this discussion."

It seems you didn't watch it because you don't have to watch more than sixteen minutes of it to see most of the direct video documentation of the mind-boggling glitches and bugs.

I am at no risk of violating the Alpha NDA to state that I have never seen anything in any release or stage of PoE even remotely resembling the dumpster fire depicted in the captured video from Wolcen's game state of about a week ago. PoE has always had its challenges, but for the Wolcen team to claim this hot mess as their full release? Really?

If anyone else cares to provide actual evidence of how PoE has ever been that awful since release (rather than just shooting their mouths off), be my guest. I don't really care. Wolcen will stand or fall on its own merits, but it isn't looking good enough to proliferate this many threads about it in a PoE forum. =9[.]9=

Ray: your argument methodology is as weak as ever. You made a claim: that PoE was never as buggy in its alpha as Wolcen in release. You failed to back that claim up by providing proof that PoE alpha was never as buggy as Wolcen; instead, all you did was present how buggy Wolcen is. This is like saying A was never as good/bad as B and then only harping on about how good/bad B is. It's half an argument, at best. This is not sufficient evidence to back up your claim. And you know you can't provide proof of it for aforementioned reasons i.e. NDA. Ergo, it was an untenable claim to make in the first place, or as someone else put it, bullshit.

At MOST you could claim that you personally have never seen PoE Alpha that buggy, in which case your argument becomes legitimate, if toothless given it then enters the realm of personal experience, i.e. it's anecdotal. Your word regarding what you experienced in PoE alpha against mine and my experiences in Alpha. There's no objectivity there, no commonality, no dialogue...so it's pointless.

You may sit down now.

If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I dont get this artificial argument "How about PoE alpha?"

Why would you want to compare game released in 2020 to a game that had its alpha somewhere in 2011 or 2012?

We compare PoE version 3.9 to Wolcen 1.0.X. Both games are fully released. One is buggy mess, one is record-breaking franchise dominating ARPG genre. One is short-term distraction until the other one releases next challenge league.

Oh, it's you. I'll just go back to doing you the courtesy of ignoring you. Meanwhile, rather than attempting to prove the negative you demand of me, here's another video; it's short enough that it ought to suit your attention span better.

People would have cut them slack if they'd said we have to release the game now even though it's not ready and please bear with us, maybe reduced the price a bit or something as a show of good faith.

Instead they released it unfinished while simultaneously increasing the price and paying gimps like Rhykker to review it and not mention any bugs. They then lied to their customers by claiming they could only do one patch per week and then released 3 in two days, two of which introduced a whole load of new bugs.

And people wonder why they are getting shit for it? That's shoddy whether your game is free, cost $4 or $40.
