Wolcen overtook POE as the new number 1 arpg game on Steam (127k concurrent players at the moment)

In my opinion you have to have really low standards to pay 40 dollars for the current state Wolcen. It's broken, with half of the passives not working as well as having progression re-setting bugs in offline and online. After a few months, if they fix it? Maybe I will give it a try, but such a launch for a paid game leaves a very bad first impression.

Also, to people who for some reason say that it's unfair to compare Wolcen to current PoE - Wolcen didn't come out in 2013. Wolcen came out now and competes with modern PoE, modern Grim Dawn, and modern Diablo 3.

POE's all time best was 123K sometime back in 2018 but never managed those player numbers again.

Do u guys think this will trigger GGG into fixing POE for a change and releasing a good quality league with finished development of it for a change, or are they going to continue ignoring how half complete the game is to just double down on POE2 development?

So what do you have to say after 2 weeks and it turned out to be trash. Every youtubers also showed how bad it was.

Games always got hyped in first release, by just looking at the number of the beginning, it doesn't make it is goods. What an idiotic post.

Comparing launch to launch is a far more fair comparison especially since there hasn't been a huge leap in terms of advancement between the two technologically. It's not like comparing a SNES game to a gamecube game. It's more like comparing a ps3 game to a ps4 game.

10 years passed. Do you know whats the diffrence between computers right now and 10 years ago? Do look it up. Same goes for games engines. Come back and tell me there is no "huge leap in terms of advancement"

It's been 7 since poe launched. Hence why I said almost a decade. But to your actual point: Not much aside from advances in graphics and storage, and poe doesn't even use the more modern graphics card today. There's only been a small jump in processing power between 2013 and now, and multi-core processors (dual or quad) were already a standard in 2013 and ram was already in the gigabytes. Comparing launch to launch is by far a more fair comparison.
Also, we can't compare engine to engine because poe is built on a homebrew engine. we have no specs to look at for it.
Wolcen is garbage
Path of Exile is great

Hot take: Both are garbage, but one has perfected feeding on addiction better.

POE is Heroin, Wolcen is homebrew bleach-based crack that makes your skin peel.

Even if its #1 it still can be garbage. Not saying it is, just saying it can be, if every other ARPG that exist is also garbage and PoE is just the best in this pile of garbage.
People that keep saying wolcen will need two years to mature miss the big issue : poe is free (appart from stash, and you can get them for a really low price when there's sales).
How many dlc's will you have to pay for in wolcen until the content deserves to stay more than 2 weeks before you get bored ?

I just finished campain on wolcen, and did 2 expeditions. I'm not sure I'll be willing to put more effort on it, because it's boring ! map layout is sad, one mob pack every screen away is not fun at all (and they are always the same, rotating from 4 different types mixted together if you dont count the occasionnal big dude).

The wall-crossing not far from the last campain boss was a nightmare, I fought to not alt+f4 the game before reaching the next checkpoint ! So long and unfun, but I had to continue else I would have to do it again...

There's also a big issue with latency on damage, I often see unreasonable delay between a hit and it's effect (particulary on the throwing hammer skill).

Right now the gameplay i had can be summed up as 'throw hammer and call it back, jump in, throw the rotating axe and left clic thing that somehow did not get hit by the full circle aoe axe - add two spins if there's a big thing --> go to next screen and repeat'

The only pleasure I had was on the major boss encounters, and that's mostly because they 2-shot you with simple attacks so you have to play a bit smart...
