Allowing people to scam on the biggest ARPG in the world with no punishment is appalling.

It's not about allowing or disallowing anything.

It's about an adult audience, and the belief that adult people are capable of handling their own shit, and being capable of critical thinking. It's more about the freedom of an open, free market, than it is about "allowing scams". In a free market, it's all about good trades, bad trades, "OK" trades and everything in between. For there to be a good trade, bad trades have to exist. For that to be possible, there has to be a certain freedom.

Being scammed sucks, and scammers are - and will always be - scum. Should they be banned based on the moral aspect? Of course. Is it plausible with this amount of freedom in the market? No, it's not. It's utopia. The best way to beat the scammers, is to not get scammed. And that IS pretty easy, especially if your mother thought you "never to trust a stranger".
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
You can't accept a trade without mousing over the items, it's an idiot proof system. There are no scams, there's just....dim light bulbs.
No rest for the wicked.
Honestly if you pay for a service before completion then that's just self inflicted bullshit and you deserve it. Use common sense when playing with a game riddled with scumbags lmao.
IF people wasn't such a hurry to trade and take the DAMN time to look at what they put in the window, then people won't get scammed! ITS your own damn fault!

Giving protips to post author that you don't even apply to yourself by not double checking the original post and understanding what we are talking about here. Fantastic really lol
The whole subject is about a service scam, nothing to do with a double check mistake in trade window.

Ahhhlala
Hf :)
Just FYI. i wrote FAKE accusation on OP that he scammed to prove a point. It was removed by support. That is the key reason why they do this.

Another failure that come with this trading model. At this point D3 AH felt like a fairytale compared to what PoE economy became.

They did take a stand - people are too untrustworthy to make policing it plausible. I mean op's original post is a shining example - if you have enough wealth to do chayula runs, you know there's a risk in trusting random folk over a verbal agreement (ie breachstone runs, carries, etc).

Yeah, people can be deceptive on-line - but it's also one's personal responsibility to protect him or herself.

Breachstone runs are an attempt to gain more value out of them by risking trust in others that they will do the same DESPITE no means of enforcing the agreement. Either you chose to forego the risk entirely and enjoy your guaranteed (if lesser) gain or go the greedier route hoping that fellow participants hold up their share.

But if you want to risk it, you aren't entitled to complain.
Yep, totally over league play.
Being dumb enough to fall for a scam when there are systems put in to specifically help is a pretty huge bunch of fail too. Don't rush, look carefully at the item, don't just move mouse over it and hit accept like an idiot, thats what they are hoping you do, and as you can see by how many morons fall for it, it works. Scammers suck, no doubt there, but, when the game has a system specifically put in to help prevent the trade scams and people STILL somehow fall for it? thats on that player, not the scammer, not GGG, its their own fault and they get no pity from me.

GGG is not doing anything because they have put in a system where it should stop most trade scams if not all if the player pays attention. GGG cannot control players being stupid and rushing, and not bothering to look at the item they are buying.

When I trade with anyone, its common sense especially in a game like this with how random item stats can be, to check the item before hitting that accept button, I been doing it since day 1 when I started playing, its just common sense to not trust some random person your buying stuff off of online in a online game. It literally shouldn't take more than 5 seconds to verify its the item you requested, yet some players are in such a rush they don't even do that, and when they don't and they get scammed? IMO they deserved it and hopefully learn a lesson to pay more attention and not be in such a rush.

Also if they cancel the trade suddendly and ask for another one that should be a big red flag right there that they are trying something and you should especially look at the item the 2nd time.

There is nothing GGG can do to prevent stupid people no matter what they try or do.

The only way to really stop most (if not all) of these sort of scams is to implement a auction house, then its controled by the game, person puts up item for sale, and if someone buys it they get that exact item from the seller, no way to suddendly switch it or anything. They have a auction house in the console version so it is perfectly possible for them to put one in the pc version as well, so thats not an excuse.

It's ironic that you use both the words dumb and fail in your first sentence when you obviously have no clue what the entire thread is about - Service scams.

There is no system in place to protect from them.
