PoE seems like a better value, even if you pay $10 for early beta access, which I might do. With Diablo 3, it seems like Blizzard wants to have their cake and eat it too. Despite charging a large amount of money for the game itself, they also have a microtransaction system where you can spend even more money. It's one thing if a free-to-play game is pay-to-win, but I refuse to pay $60 just to access a game that's more pay to win than most free-to-play games, so I'm going to play PoE on principle. Blizzard is just outright double-dipping here.
You clearly have no idea how the RMAH works, at all.
It's a player driven economy (which is completely optional). You aren't buying points to then spend on other stuff like in PoE. THats a cash shop.
There IS a gold AH by the way. And, since everyone gets 10 listings (free) every week for the RMAH, you never have to spend a dime out of your own pocket.
Nice try on jumping on the D3 hate bandwagon. Do a little research first before making false claims.
The Auction House provides the option to buy power and twink yourself with real money, by buying rare items which you will most likely not find nor be able to afford with in-game money while leveling up.
If that isn't pay-to-win, then what is? It's a player-run system that is setup a bit differently from usual cash shops, but it still lets people buy power for real money, and the company still profits from said real money transactions that buy power.
Considering Blizzard gets a cut from real-money transactions in the Auction House, there's no need for them to charge $60 for the game.
Honestly, I'd probably buy Diablo 3 if Path of Exile didn't exist. All I'm just saying that Path of Exile is a much better value than Diablo 3, and I don't see myself shelling out 60 bucks for Diablo 3 until I get bored of Path of Exile.
I'm glad you pointed out the free listings, though. Sometimes I don't keep up with beta games that I don't have access to, since it makes the wait more painful. :P
Have you been living under a rock for the past 10 years? Diablo 2 had/has an absolutely massive market for paying money to get items. There are so many third-party D2 item sites it's crazy. The guy who owns d2legit.com made tens of millions of dollars, owns a mansion, a yacht, you name it. Tons and tons and TONS of people bought Diablo 2 items for real money.
If there was no RMAH, the same thing would've happened with Diablo 3. People are going to pay money for items regardless, so your entire "pay-to-win" point is invalid. And I don't want to hear "having an official seller makes it easier for people to buy items"... no sorry it was incredibly easy and fast to buy items off these D2 sites. I know first-hand because I bought some stuff years ago. No risk no nothing. Many times you'd get the items in minutes.
Anyway, bring on D3. Cannot wait. All this uproar about the RMAH is ridiculous - it's like you people had your heads completely submerged in the sand during the past decade of Diablo 2 and the massive market for buying items.

They legitimized something that was happening anyways? That's fine, it had to be done.
They decided to profit off of it? That's fine, it's a business model for the game.
They're still charging $60 for the game? That's fine, it's a business model for the game.
Wait a second, that's not right. Why are they charging fees for using the auction house AND the for game itself? This is what I mean when I say double dipping. They could have had a free-to-play model and profited off the RMAH, or buy-to-play without charging RMAH fees because it would be covered by the cost of the game.
Having your game cost money to play, and still finding ways to sneak in extra optional fees.. I'm not sure I like that.
Oh and, anyone worried about sites like d2legit.com popping up for PoE? Or is PoE going to have an official RMAH like D3?

As the other guy said, you really should do some research before making posts like this. You only pay a fee AFTER the item is sold. There is NO listing fee. Blizzard only takes a fee AFTER your item is sold and money has exchanged hands.

Production values to start with is worth the extra $50 bucks.
If you care about production values that much, let me guess, are you one of the people who buys every iteration of Call of Duty that comes out? A game series not known for anything positive, outside of production values.
As someone who has played Minecraft since 2010, I can say that production values are near the bottom of the list, as far as my priorities go. To each his own, I suppose.

Not to mention it's the real deal.
The current Blizzard isn't the Blizzard of 10 years ago. It just isn't the same company. There's no "real deal" here for me, there's just "which game do I like more?"

Everything else is a clone (either good or bad) of the series that set the standard: Diablo.
Well, if it's a good clone, then why does it even matter that it's not the "real deal", as you say? Diablo itself was a "good clone" of dungeon crawling games like Angband.

I'm starting to believe a lot of the people on the negative side simply wanted Diablo 2 all over again in 3D instead of Diablo 3.
I think that FoE has a lot of cool gameplay mechanics that are different from Diablo 2. I wouldn't be interested in it, if it was the same.
I hate Call of Duty. I don't think the milked franchise that is CoD is a good example of production values.
honestly your arguments are moot. Blizzard is Blizzard. Their games are coveted by most gamers. Why? Because they are outstanding games and some of the best in their respective genre.
It's clear people fear or oppose change. It's been over a decade since Diablo 2. Things have changed. They needed to update the franchise to be more relevant and up to date. I think they have done a fantastic job. Is everything as I would have wanted it? no, but that doesn't change the fact that it's going to be one hell of a game.

I'm sorry, but what are you D3 fanbois trying to achieve here? Why are you wasting your time white knighting a game that isn't even out yet - do you really think you can convince someone to buy the game when they've decided not to? Why do you even care? :D
What have you become when even nightmares fear you?

Do you have any idea how much it costs to have those production values before you spout that crap with dubble dipping? Sc2 was almost 100 mil.$ . D3 will be cheaper for them to make ofcourse since they don't have to work 3 years on multiplayer balance and other stuff but still, it costs a lot of money to make a game of that scale and purpose. A game that will be played by millions of ppl.
Also that "pay to win" thing is beyond ridiculous. What are they "winning" ? Please tell me what do you actualy win.
Is there a world championship of who gets world first game clear, best armors sets or nr.1 arena? Are you that concerned with the way other people are playing the game when it doesn't have any effect on you?
When this game hits the big crowd after release and a lot more ppl will be playing do you actualy belive you won't see PoE shops all over the internet? Its like you never even played online rpgs before. EVERY online rpg has those things, gold sellers and whatnot and the more succesfull and played the game is the more of that stuff pops out.

Honestly, again, all I'm reading here is someone trying to relive the nostalgia of 12 years ago.
I've played plenty of both diablo 1 and diablo 2. Those two games were, and still are, my favourite video games period.
You and I must have played different games, as they aren't what you describe them. Neither game has aged well and both look like utter crap now.
Why do I need to compare textures and everything else. PoE has a bland, brown/black washed out visual tone. Monsters, animations spells, everything seems rather uninspired and... old. My first impression when i started playing the PoE beta was that I was back in 1999.
You need to compare to see what is better. Detail of texture in PoE is much higher, realistic and better than washed out texture in d3. If you cant see that, than no comments
The exact same feeling I got when i saw D3 and played it, if there where no same clases as in d2 I would say its some improved WoW engine for a new game that is really old and looks bland for today standards. The thing that looks great in d3 is animation and special effects.
Im not a PoE fanboy, nor am I a d3 fanboy. I can tell you what sucs in PoE and what sucs in d3. The problem why graphically d3 success is because it doesn't look like a diablo game.

"Art style works good if the game was not a diablo sequel. But because it is, it doesnt work good"
That doesn't even make sense.
What, i need everything to explain to you? Diablo 3 art style doesnt look like a diablo game. The art style is good, but its not good for diablo game. It's totally different, if you cant see that, there's nothing that we can talk about than.
About RMHA, i dont give a shit what they will do with it, or will people buy. But I see some ignorant people that say if a lot of people use illegal sites is same as it is legal now, but it isn't. No matter how many people use those sites, when you legalize somthing a lot more people will start using it. Is RMHA buy to win? Yes. What can you win? Nothing. Why? Because there is no PvP, no ladder, there is nothing. Why? Don't know, maybe because of RMHA.

So you think PoE will people who sell in-game items for real cash? Obviously it won't be gold in this case, but possibly uniques or rare "currency" consumables. I'm wondering how GGG plans to deal with this.
