D3 OR PoE
You're asking in the wrong place friend. Just a bunch of PoE fanboys here. Don't ask in D3 general either. There are other places. Here's a novel idea. Make the choice yourself.

@tommerbob
Nice long reply. Good read. I didn't play d2 like most drones that played that game. I did not do min-max to be like all the cool kids. I played to enjoy the game and play with people I knew. We mostly played co-op. Mostly I played sorceress and Amazons. My most enjoyable Hell grade sorceress's were dual to tri elementals that could deal with the entire game, not just farking MEphiisto runs or some other specific task. I do realize there were builds that were far supperior to what I was doing but they were far more specific and were people that just would run mephisto do death or some other boss like maybe Baal runs. I didn't find that enjoyable to the extreme others did. Same for my zons. The jav/poker zons or bowzons all had multi skills centered on elmeents that they could call on to successfully SOLO in hell if they had to , and anywhere. The were not super fast killers geared for a specific set of areas. I never messed around much with other class's so can't comment there. I also was known to enjoy the game prior to NM and would build to enjoy the game as I played it. That would mean 'wastin'g points if playing online. Or I could play OFFLINE and fix the 'wasted' points issue via illicit means if I so chose(which I did years later as the online 'community' there at D2 fell into pure shit with legions of chat bots and jackass 8 year olds or maybe they were jackass 20 somethings. I suspect the former though. So , no my memeory is not faulty. I did not play as the mass of machine pretzel cutter players did. I don't to this day. I don't believe in cookie cutting and I enjoy the game my way. YEs, I dont' get along with min-maxers and I realize they despise me as much and probably far more than I despise them. Players like I 'suck' in their view. That is okay. I dont enjoy playing with jackass's. As a result, my friends list is rather short, and always will be. Thanks though for that long and thoughtful reply. I will say real quick. This game has more concurrent spells /skills at present. Ther is NO reason they could allow for more as I dont' see them targeting the consoles. It would be a easy matter for them to do so, and I would not be surprised if they do in time. I'm hoping they have the polish for me to fully enjoy this PoE by fall as I expect D3 will be a major let down for me, in the LONG TERM. Cya.
" Are you saying this game has more spells then diablo 3? I believe you to be wrong on this point. I also don't understand your point of saying they can't add more since they aren't planning to target consoles. How are they even related? If anything, the POE beta is too long. it covers 2/3's of the games "open" content. I think it probably would have been better with just Act 1, but thats me.
D3's beta is good for getting a look at the direction of the game from the dialog and the skill system. Its quite clear that the majority of the time you will be using 1 or 2 skills, as was the same in D2 and D1 and also in POE. Theres other skills you use occasionally in each of the games ( my necro normally used all 12 hotkeys) but theres only a couple you use regularly. |

" I agree. Having played the D2 closed beta (all of act 1), I felt that was more than enough to keep things compelling, compulsive and enticing. PoE's third act has a lot on its shoulders right now. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

" I'm still at the collecting information stage of learning about this game, is Act 4 planned for release at launch after OB? Or just Unknown at this point. You'll hear alot of people ingame complaining about not enough content but ya I would agree, that alot of the game has already been exposed and the last thing you really want is to grind people to death on the same 2 zones, and only have 1 zone left for them to explore.
Act 4, last I heard, was in design phase. I wouldn't expect it for Open Beta but it might be one of the first big additions thereafter. Act 3 and the Sixth is their goal for open beta/'release'.
You know, I think fear of 'knowing too much too soon' is part of why I haven't even finished the first two acts yet. Could I? Of course. Easy. But I'm enjoying muddling with various low level builds and chatting with other enthusiastic newcomers. It's a good time to join Path of Exile, I think. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

POE will have 3 act's and 3 difficulty settings when it goes to open beta, they're a bit bigger (timewise) than the acts in D2, keeping in mind that A4 in D2 was *very* short.
*hopefully* there will be something of a level gap from A3 normal going to A1 cruel to allow future acts to be added, though i guess they could just rebalance the area levels easily enough. |

Diablo 3 weekend!
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/4963739/Diablo%C2%AE_III_Open_Beta_Weekend-4_19_2012#blog At least we can give it a try before writing it off completely... and if it is as bad as I expect, I'll save myself from wasting my money on it. :) "It's a harsh, difficult world. You have to be prepared for it. We're not babying the players."
