D3 OR PoE
First of all, I do not say this to join the "which game is better, PoE or D3?" debate. I will buy D3 on May 15, I will also play the release version of Path of Exile. There is nothing wrong with enjoying both games.
About what I said earlier... I am not against free games. League of Legends is one of my favorites. I enjoy Path of Exile. I think its a good game, with lots of potential. Lots of potential is the key here. After playing 100+ hours of PoE, I reinstalled Diablo 2. I enjoy Diablo 2 more. The main reason for that is because D2 is more polished. Having 12 years of updates and an expansion, that should be a given. Because PoE is still in beta, it lacks a lot of features. Once it is released, I imagine it will be much better than it is now. I look forward to that day. I generally try to avoid internet debating, for the simple reason that it is the internet. Anyone can say anything. Most of the time people are either dishonest, ignorant and pigheaded, or simply trolling. Its why I dislike all of these "D3 vs. PoE" discussions. There's lots of things I don't like about PoE, and its why I'm now playing Diablo 2 again and not this game. I hope most of the features I don't (or the lack of features) change by the time it is released. Otherwise, its simply a matter of taste, and this isn't the game for me. " I would have to agree with him for the most part. From the little I was able to play of this game it is indeed in need of a lott more polish. I played torchlight again along with D2 and both just feel a lot smoother. This game has a lot of potential hance why I want a beta :). |

" They will have a free trial account. It will happen after the game ships of course and there will be limitations. Probably a cap of level 20 and Act 1 only or something along those lines. But it will be a free "demo" of the game. If you buy the game you can continue on with the same character. “God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I will never die.”

" There absolutely isn't. The problem is some of us have finite amount of time to devote to gaming. These kind of games require large time investments to get the most out of them. I personally only have time for one of the two. “God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I will never die.”

Ill play which ever one holds my attention longer. I hope PoE does just that cause Id rather throw my money at GGG then Blizzard. I also think I'd enjoy the smaller community

I finally decided to take the poison pill
and order D3 from Amazon. I can still cancel if I change my mind, which I may well do. I have great worries that the game was dumbed down too far, for the console crowd in particular. I'm talking about the fact they limited the concurrent skills to merely six. left and right mouse and 4 others. One of the joys of D1 and D2 later on was having so many concurrent skills to use. I usually played sorceress's and Amazons. It wasn't uncommon for me to have to have on hand 8 or more skills to cope with Hell mode mobs. I think in D2 we could have upwards of 12 available if we chose. It was a bunch. THis increases the challenge and the joy of repetitive play, IMO. So how does that relate to PoE. Well, yes, I realize this game won't be ready for prime time any time soon. I've enjoyed it for the past weeks since the open beta weekend. I voted with my dollars to support them as I see the potential here and HOPE I can count on this to be the better game of the two. There are aspects of this PoE that are more true to what I loved about D2 than i see in game play vids of Diablo 3. I hope by late summer PoE is far more flushed out, even if it is later I'm good as I will have something to return to. By that time I expect to be fully involved in GW2 anyway. Diablo 3 Is the unknown to me at this stage. I fear it is too dumbed down to do anything than other to anger me greatly. This game, isn't pointed at the drooling console market so it has the potential to return to D2 more cloesly. I hope I offended some console player fans. I truly despise you for ruining so many of my great PC games. Peace. | |
" I'm sorry but your just making up assumptions without facts. You may see blizzard as "dumbing down for consoles" but the truth is they've ALWAYS been a PC platform game first. They have even SAID they are 100% dedicated to a PC build of Diablo 3 before anything. A console version of D3 may never even happen. Why some of you get so bent out of shape and start seeing conspiracies about Diablo being a console port or something is beyond me. Also, while you might have played with up to 12 skills in D2, the vast majority of people would spam no more then one or 2. The combat in Diablo 3 is far deeper then the spam fest in D2. You have to use 6 skills. Later in Nightmare and above, you can't just roll into whole rooms just spamming a dps spell, you will die. You have to use combinations of movement skills, slows and stuns along with pure dmg skills. Combat in Diablo 3 is miles ahead of what we saw in Diablo 2 “God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I will never die.” Last edited by alcovitch#4778 on Apr 17, 2012, 12:25:55 PM

" lol :) "I ordered it, but I may cancel, but it's dumb down, but I ordered it..." ^^; btw, there was only 2 buttons in D2. I'm sure you were casting 4 skills max during combat... Do yourself a favor and cancel your order, you should probably throw more money at GGG. " Don't expect too much then, because by your standard, it's a dumb down turd. 5 skills with low cooldown, 1 heal, 3 situational skills (called utility, 90s cooldown) and 1 elite (3min cooldown mostly). So yeah... you will use most of the time 5 skills... I will enjoy D3 and GW2, but saying they are both dumb down because of the low amount of "skills" is an understatement, like the PoE crowd like to wave around here :) PoE forums ignore list script:

If you thnk D3 is going to be as good as D2 forget it. I have been playing D3 beta for a bit and it dont begin to be as good as D2 on a scale of 1 to 10 I gave it a 5 I may or may not buy D3 and play it but I like POE so much better than D3.
