Path of Exile and p2w

GGG themselves define the goal of the game to be going faster, and trade tabs help you go faster. So yea in their eyes it must be P2W, it's not any different than selling anything else that would let people speed up the grind.

PoE is f2p and p2w.

Haha. They have ONE transaction that some people view as P2W, while other don't. It's a transaction that doesn't make your character better - directly. It's also a transaction that doesn't give you more power the more you buy. It is also fairly cheap.

You saw it here first; that's called "knee deep in P2W". It's funny how people are unable to nuance and compare.

I bought all the useful tabs, and now i have lots of space, a quad tab for dumping and mapping faster, and i've never been so rich in any other league.

But as i believe Ziz has said many times, PoE is p2w but you gotta spend like $30-$50 and you're done spending money, that's as p2w as it gets.

All you need is a currency tab, a quad tab and a map tab as they are the most useful. Frags/Divs come after them, and then essence and uniques.


Still, this is a weird single player online game, and anyone can enjoy it without buying anything, untill you buy something and can't stop.

When I tell people about POE I generally say its free to try because lets face it in reality 4 tabs is not enough to play POE in 2019 as intended.

At this point GGG should consider increasing the free tabs a bit 6-8 considering how much has changed since OB if they still want to market it as F2P.

The game used to be a unique free to play back in 2012-2013. It isn't anymore.
The time has come for the financial model to change I think.
$50. All the useful tabs included. Pay more and get awesome MTX. Buy supporter packs and get exclusive awesome MTX and T-shirts.

Heck I'd pay more... and I did. Been addicted to this great game for almost 7 years, and love every second of it.

But there wasn't one second Tabs looked like a legitimate "MTX". It was borderline p2w turned full fucking p2w over time, as more and more stuff got added to the game.

GGG won't do it, because they know they can get more than $50 per player with tabs alone, especially with all the shit being constantly added.
Raise your hand if you ever spent an entire pack worth of points, or most of it, on tabs.

Seriously?

Because of the freedom of choice? No matter how hard YOU think YOU need 500 stash tabs to survive, I can guarantee you that there are THOUSANDS of player playing - and enjoying - PoE with only four tabs. MANY players playing and enjoying the game with 5 tabs ($3 investment) or 6 tabs ($6 investment).

That's the whole point of F2P: YOU choose how much YOU are willing to invest/pay/support.

Freedom of choice, Phrazz, is for you to get that awesome skill effect for your Cyclone, or me getting that sweet weapon effect for my Oni-Goroshi.
Pets. Wings. Demons hovering over the character's head. Armor sets that make you look like The Terminator.

I'd pay extra for that. All of that. I choose to.

Tabs? Fuck Tabs!
